"Ha! Serves her right." Malachite said.
"What did she ever do to you!" Steven yelled.
"She...uh... She... Sh-" " SHE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN TO HER!" Steven yelled.
"SHE'S A NERD, SHE DOESN'T NEED ANYONE!" Malachite yelled back.
"She might be a nerd... But I see something else in her. I see beauty, smarts, and... Love." Steven said.
Steven ran out of the school just to find Connie on the steps. He sat by her and they were silent. Connie was still crying and Steven put his hand on her shoulder and Connie looked up at him. Steven wiped away the tears and hugged Connie. Connie had her arms to her sides and closed here eyes as she let the tears fall on Steven's shirt.
"Connie, I'm so-" Steven was cut off by Connie slapping him.
"Ow, that hurt. But I did disserve that." Steven said.
"Why would you go to the dance with someone like that?" Connie asked.
"She never did that, and if she did, she didn't do things like that in front of me." Steven said.
He saw that there were still tears in Connie's eyes and Connie looked away. Then Malachite ran out the building, stepping on Connie's hand." OW!" Connie yelled.
"Oops, sorry." Malachite said sarcastically.
Connie bit her lip because of how much pain it was. Steven ran to Malachite." You better say sorry, or you'll be sorry. " Steven said.
"What are you gonna do. All you are is a softy and can't hurt anyone." Malachite said.
"You're wrong. I choose not to hurt anyone. But I choose to hurt you now." Steven said.
"Steven, no. Don't do this. I know your mad but she's not even worth the time of day. Ya' know." Connie said.
"But she hurt you." Steven said.
"I know but isn't it wrong to hurt people." Connie said.
Steven gave up and put his fist down. "It isn't right to hurt people." Steven said to himself.
Steven walked back to Connie and picked up her hand and put his other hand on it. Malachite walked away. Connie's hand was bleeding and Steven felt tears rim his eyes.
"Let's get you home." Steven said.

"Steven, I can walk from here." Connie said.
"Oh, ok." Steven said.
When Connie got home she wrapped in bandages and went to sleep.
