Pancakes (A Renora Fanfiction)

Ren: Reveal

As soon as Nora's face disappeared under the rubble, he was on his feet and running towards where she had been.

Jaune's face was pale as he joined Ren in removing some of the smaller chunks of concrete. He could feel his aura slowly starting to regenerate, and his strength was returning with every moved piece of concrete.

She has to be okay...

A little bubble opened up, and Ren could see Nora's face through the dim light. She had landed partially in a pocket, and he sighed with relief as he saw no major wounds so far.

They finished removing the concrete around her, and Jaune sank to the ground at her head, disbelief in his eyes. Ren gently lifted her into his arms, and her eyes fluttered faintly.

His eyes scanned her arms and legs, which were slightly cut and bruised, but other than that she seemed fine.

A pink aura surrounded her and flickered off, and the cuts on her legs and arms began to fade. Flashes of blue appeared from underneath her eyelashes, and soon her eyes opened. "Ren? Did..."

He nodded, relief taking over. "There's no sign of him. Are..." His voice broke, a rare occasion, but he recovered quickly. "Are you okay?"

"Did I scare you?" Nora giggled. "I'm okay, Ren. Has Ruby come back?"

Ren shook his head, glancing in that direction. "I don't know what's taking her so long."

She sat up, following his gaze with a smile. "I'm sure she's fine."

The remains of the rubble shifted, and Ren tensed as part of it rose into the air and landed again almost as fast.

How? He can't be...

The entirety of the rubble rose into the air, and Watts stood behind it, bruised and furious with the same smirk on his face.

Ren met his glare and moved in front of Nora protectively as the suspended rubble moved forward a small bit.

Before it could strike, a shot rang out and Watts fell to the ground along with the concrete. Ren spun around to see a familiar face, along with Ruby and Team ABRN.

Nora gasped. "Yang!"

Jaune sighed with relief. "Just in time."

Yang grinned, lowering her arms to her sides. "You look terrible. Don't tell me that pushover was giving you trouble?"

Nora rolled her eyes. "He wasn't a pushover before, believe me."

"Are you guys okay?" Ruby looked around as if someone else would spring out of the bushes. "Nora?"

Ren took his partner's hand to confirm Ruby's question, and Nora nodded to both him and the red Huntress.

"Yeah...just bruised." Nora squeezed his hand reassuringly. "Ruby, how did you find Yang?"

Ruby grinned. "She found me! I gave her the address of where we were staying and someone at the hotel saw us leave."

"I figured you guys would be here, after...you know..." Yang shrugged, rolling her shoulder as an explanation.

Jaune nodded. "We're glad to see you back."

Yang let out a quiet laugh, crossing over to where Watts lay unconscious. "Yeah, I'm back. What did that guy think he would accomplish, picking a fight with all of you?"

Ruby coughed awkwardly. "Um, Yang. Step away from him for a second before I tell you."

Yang stepped away, looking confused. "Okay?"

"He...was going to take me to his mistress." Ruby's eyes widened as Yang clenched her fists.

"What?!"

Ren sighed in exasperation as Yang walked back up to Watts, her eyes switching to red. Ruby desperately tried to distract her sister. "Yang please calm down we beat him it's not a big deal!"

Nora giggled as Yang's eyes switched back to purple. "Fine, I guess."

Arslan spoke up for the first time, shuffling her feet. "There's a couple empty dorms across from ours, maybe you guys could stay there? You know, as a precaution in case they decide to send someone else?"

Jaune nodded. "Thank you, but are you sure it's all right with the headmaster?"

Nora shook her head, amused. "Um, Jaune, have you not been here today? I think he can make an exception."

Ruby and Yang walked off after ABRN, leaving Jaune and Ren to help Nora to her feet and walk after them.

Yes, they just left Watts. No, he's probably not going to be an issue again. No, there's definitely not going to be any feels later. Yes, one out of three of those statements was a lie. See you Bookworms in the next chapter! c:
