Yuri's POV

I am here... standing in front of his house.
Yes—his.
His own house.
The house of the monster.

It feels like the most sinful thing I'll ever do in my life.

I step toward the gate and press the doorbell. After a few seconds, an old lady opens the door and walks toward the gate.

"Wae? How can I help you, Ma'am?" she asks politely.

"Hi... well, I'd like to talk with Kwon de— I mean, Kwon Jiyong," I said.

"Oh, may I know who you are, Ma'am?" she asks again, still gentle.

"I'm Kwon Yuri. His cousin," I answered plainly.
Just saying his cousin makes me want to puke.

"Oh—mianhe~. Please come in, I'll call the young master," she said as she opened the gate for me.

She led me inside his house.

I scanned my eyes around the place. It's huge—too huge for a single person.
I bet this stupid jerk earns a lot of money and wastes it on useless things.

As I continued looking around, something caught my attention—a grand piano. But what really caught my eye was what sat on top of it.

A picture frame.

I slowly walked toward it. Of course ,it had a picture... but why in the world would he display this in his house?

Before I could think further—

"Hey."

That familiar voice.
I turned around and saw the devil himself coming down the stairs.

I smirked. This jerk.
Of course, I couldn't avoid him—we're cousins. I always see him during family reunions or parties. But as much as possible, I ignore him.

"Long time no see, huh?" he said casually.

I smirked again. "Yeah," I replied shortly.

"I'm happy that my cousin visited me. Let's drink to that," he said with that annoying grin.

"Jerk," I muttered.

"Wae? Don't be so rude to me, cousin," he said, still smiling like the idiot he is.

This jerk really knows how to ruin my day.
I breathed deeply, calming myself.

"Okay, Kwon Jiyong, listen. I'm not here to visit you or have a chit-chat. Because we both know that I really, truly, honestly H-A-T-E Y-O-U," I said clearly.

"Ouch!!" he said dramatically, even placing a hand on his chest.
JERK.

"I'm just here to deliver a message. Someone wants to talk to you," I said.

"Who? Sorry, cousin, but my schedule is so full this month. Unless this someone is a 'she'—and a hot one," he said with a smug smile.

Stupid. Devil. Maniac. Jerk.

"Well, it's okay for me if you don't have time to talk to her. And yes, this someone is a she. And no, she's not hot—she's amazing," I said firmly.

"Whoa... can you introduce me to her? Hahaha. Well? Who is she, my dear cousin?" he asked.

"Fine. It's Dara," I said.

I watched his eyes widen instantly.

"D-Dara?" he stuttered.
Now he's stammering? Hah.

"Yes. Dara. Park Sandara. My best friend... your, uhm... ex-fiancée," I said.

"S-She's back? H-How is she?" he asked, voice suddenly soft.

"Yes, she's back. And she's very fine. She's okay," I said.

"When does she want to talk? Where? Is she still angry with me? Do you have her number?" he showered me with questions.

"Whoa... I thought you were very busy, Mr. Kwon? I guess I'll just tell her you don't have time," I said, reaching for my phone.

"N-No!" he shouted. "P-Please... I'll talk to her," he said, almost desperately.

I looked at him.
He looked like a gentle, obedient dog.

"Fine. I'll tell her that you'll talk to her," I said and turned to leave.

"W-Wait!!" he called out.

I faced him again. "What?"

"C-Can I get her number? I just... I just want to ask her when and where we'll meet," he said carefully.

I smiled. "No."

"But—" he tried to speak, but I cut him off.

"I'll call you when I talk to Dara. I already have your number, right?" I said, then added, "Oh, and one more thing... don't expect that I'll let you get close to Dara again."

And with that, I left.

JIYONG'S POV

I was left there, frozen. Slowly, I turned around and stared at the frame sitting on top of the piano.
I picked it up and looked at the picture.

"Dara..." I murmured.

I've been carrying this emptiness for many years—ever since she left.
I never realized my mistakes.
I never realized how lucky I was to have her.
I never realized that she always had my heart.
I never realized that I didn't need anything else.

Just her.

Just Dara.

My Dara.
