Amber
"Did you wanna come inside?" He asks, and we finally pull apart, giving me a perfect view of his stunning face.
"No, I just came to stand outside the door, thanks though." I respond with sarcasm and he just shakes his head with a chuckle.
"Glad to see your terrible sense of humor is still there." He says before grabbing my shoulders and facing them towards the door. His arms then reach past me and he unlocks his door, pushing me inside.
I raise my eyebrows when he pushes me, but decide to say nothing of it, instead observing where he supposedly lives, although it looks completely new and untouched.
"How long have you lived here for?" I asked
"As long as I can remember." He then sees my confusion and laughs, "I know what you're thinking, and I swear I actually do live here. I just don't touch anything except for my bed."
I nod my head in response, then I decide to make myself at home, finding a spot on the lounge and grabbing a blanket from the folded pile of untouched ones.
"Yeah, yeah, go ahead make yourself at home." He mumbles sarcastically and I laugh
"Sorry sweetie, but someone's gotta make this place look livable." I chuck him a cushion and usher him to sit.
He obliges, and sits next to me. "So, how you feeling after all that shit that went down?" He asks
"Not good, not bad." I say, and he waits for me to continue. "I have so many questions about everything. I want to know if Ella is okay. I want to know if the President and his family are okay, seeing as we did leave them there to die." Harry winced a little at the reminder
"We didn't have much of a choice." He muttered
"I know, I just can't shake the feeling that they're going through something terrible." I say, and Harry hums in agreement.
"If we're adding to the list of things we failed, I'd like to add that we also let the last remaining part of the key get into the wrong hands." He says, with bitter amusement.
"Oh believe me, I've been reassured multiple times that we did everything that we possibly could do wrong." I tell him and he smirks a little.
"You cop a beating from Kevin?"
"Yeah. He was acting like the biggest fucking jerk."
Harry laughs. "I'm sure you set him straight."
I smile cheekily, "I sure did."
We both laugh, then trail off into a comfortable silence. The last time I felt this relaxed and free was when Harry and I were driving to get Ella. I almost laugh out loud at that thought. We though he had it so figured out. Get Ella, bargain for Obama back, and get a promotion or some shit. It felt like years ago.
"How'd you know where I lived anyway?" Harry asked, breaking the silence.
I hesitated before replying, unsure whether or not to tell the truth.
"You want the truth?" I asked and he nodded, confused. "I found your file, and it gave me your address. I swear I'm not a stalker I was just desperate to see you."
Harry shook his head with a laugh. "Don't worry, I would've done at least that and a lot more for you."
I couldn't stop the smile that grew on my face after he said that.
I'm a grown woman.
I need to stop acting like a stupid teenager with a crush.
"Did you read any more of my file?" He then asks, and I suck in a small breath.
