Only the outsiders can see the warning signs

Cause my love made me blind to it

An irrational, over-powering, all consuming love

That erases all the punches and kicks

My mind doesn't register the screams

As if I'm hearing them from someone else

My body doesn't feel as it bleeds

Cause I'm numb from the first grip and the crippling fear

I ignore the pain as I wipe away your tears while mine you don't see

And hold you cradled in my arms

Chasing away all your doubts and fears that I'll leave

While my body is ringing like a fire alarm

The beatings are getting more frequent

And it's like your two different people

The man I met and fell in love with

And the man who can't seem to let me be anything else but his girl

My family and friends are all gone

You've locked me out from the world

You'd shower me with gifts and love

Then turn around with your hand raised or your fists curled

You've broken me now, so there's no going back

Because I didn't register the warning signs in time to react

Now as you rain down the last of your blows on my battered body

I'm succumbing to the light cause it's all that I can see

I throw a silent prayer that my child will be safe

As you give in to your blind rage

My hands are shielding my slightly rounded tummy

As our is baby struggling to get free

My child and I don't go down in a fit of glory

We don't grow old enough to make history

But we're now resting peacefully

Never again having to fear that you'd storm in and beat me mercilessly...

I almost cried writing this...and then hearing the song and...alright alright, too much feels right now

This is a tragic poem that was inspire by a Wattpad book that I was reading and a movie that I saw a while ago.

I hope that no one ever has to go through something like this but the reality of the situation is that these things happen every day.

If there's anyone out there going through this please remember that you don't have to go through it alone and also there's hotlines made for situations such as these.

At the end of the day you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.
