Song - Owl City ft. Lindsey Stirling, Beautiful Times

~Jessica

"There's a phrase, "the elephant in the living room", which purports to describe what it's like to live with a drug addict, and alcoholic, an abuser. People outside such relationships will sometimes ask, "How could you let such a business go on for so many years? Didn't you see the elephant in the living room?" And it's so hard for anyone living in a more normal situation to understand the answer that comes closest to the truth; "I'm sorry, but it was there when I moved in. I didn't know it was an elephant; I thought it was part of the furniture." There comes an aha-moment for some folks -the lucky ones- when they suddenly recognize the difference."

+Payton's POV+

"You promised me Hunter." I looked out onto the beach with tears in my eyes.

Silence.

"You promised that everything was going to be okay!" I screamed, only the waves were listening to what I said. "You promised," My voice broke.

The sound of the wind made an attempt to soothe me, but the absence of Hunter's presence only made things worse.

"And now, you've abandoned me here as well." The waves continued to crash against the shore but this time, it was louder than before. "I hate you."

The wind picked up, the leaves on trees rustled intensely. With each drop of rage and hate seeping out of me, the world around me soaked it up and turned it into fuel for nature.

"You're the biggest fucking coward I ever met," I seethed. "You can't even show yourself to me."

The skies were darker, the clouds moved in to hide the sun.

"Show yourself!" I yelled out in the open space. "Come on, show yourself!"

Suddenly, a figure appeared in the sea.

"Hunter!" I yelled at the top of my lungs.

"I'm sorry," his voice echoed. It wasn't coming from where he was though, it was coming from every direction. His voice surrounded me and every thought I had.

"Face me!" I screamed in anger. "Stand right in front of me, and talk!"

"Be strong," he echoed. "Not everything is what it seems."

"It's pretty clear; you've forgotten about me," I cried.

"Just hold on, hold on to me." I felt like he was taunting me, I felt like I was at the edge of insanity.

"Just stop lying!"

The image of the beach faded and everything went dark with only Hunter's voice echoing from one corner to the other.

I pulled at my hair, I balled up on the ground. I wanted the voice to stop, I wanted to disappear.

My wishes were finally granted when a loud bang woke me up.
