"It is law that the Queen should be married within three years of her reign," Elsa told Jack. "If she doesn't, it is tradition for her to step down."

"What kind of law is that?" Jack exclaimed unbelievingly. "Can't they be free and independent forever?"

"You can't change tradition, Jack," she sighed. "Anyway, I'm still looking. If I don't find the right guy by the time three years end, I won't hesitate to step down."

The twosome stood together by the ice balcony, staring out into the horizon and watching the sun dip below the mountains. Elsa shifted uncomfortably and looked at Jack out of the corner of her eye. He seemed so happy independent; twirling his staff playfully every now and then, and flashing a stunning smile whenever he wanted to.

"You shouldn't step down. I don't think there's a better ruler than you," he says softly. "Do anything, but don't step down."

"It's not that easy, Jack."

"Is there a criteria for your potential husband?"

"Mother told me that he has to be of royal blood. They also have to be kindhearted, smart, gentle and sweet."

"Oh." Jacks eyes look down at the ice below him. "What if they--"

"Queen Elsa! Queen Elsa!"

Elsa and Jack spun around and dashed into the main room. Someone was banging on the door.

"Is it Prince Hans...?" Elsa whimpered, cowering in fright. If it was the Prince, he probably brought a whole army of men to capture her for good.

"Shh... Keep calm." Jack held her close and Elsa clenched her fists nervously.

"Queen Elsa, I'm Kristoff! It's Anna! Please, open the door!"

Elsa pulled away from Jack and slowly walked to the door. Sure enough, she could see her friend's silhouette against the thin ice door, and she opened it swiftly. "Kristoff! What happened to Anna?"

"Heart froze... Prince Hans... Anna... kiss..." Kristoff panted, "liar... dead!"

"I can't make heads or tails of what you said, Kristoff! Calm down!" Elsa tried to coax him.

"You froze Anna's heart. We went to visit the trolls to see if they could fix her. The head troll said that only a true love's kiss would, so we brought her to Prince Hans," Kristoff began. "But turns out he was lying the whole time! He never loved her! He just wanted to marry her in order to get the kingdom!"

"That bastard!" Elsa screamed, stomping her foot. Without warning, ice spikes jutted out of the ground and nearly impaled Kristoff, in front of her, and Jack, behind her. She'd been taught well. "I sort of entrusted him with my sister's heart and he breaks it?"

"Uh, Your Highness, I don't mean to interrupt, but your sister's broken heart is not the matter at hand," Kristoff said.

"I know that. We have to go. Now!" Elsa exclaimed, pushing past him and running down the stairs as fast as her heels can carry her. "Come on, Kristoff, Ja--never mind."

"Ja?" Kristoff asked, running to her side. "Who's Ja?"

"Never mind," she muttered, ignoring his question and exiting her palace. "Where's your reindeer? What's his name again? Seven?"

"Actually, it's Sven--"

"Your pet's name is not the matter at hand!"

Kristoff's reindeer, Sven (there, she said it), came trotting out from behind a mound of snow and barely had time to steady itself as she grabbed his reins and jumped on.

"Elsa! Elsa, wait!" Kristoff yelled, but she had already kicked Sven's side and took off galloping into the mountains.
