The Fire Within

Chapter 3

The ninja ran through the streets of Ninjago, as many of the citizens ran in the opposite direction, screaming. "I wonder who this new enemy is," Zane wondered out loud. Kai scoffed. "Who cares? I get to fight them!" Lloyd and Zane frowned at each other. They liked Kai, but he could be a little violent and malicious at times. Okay, a lot violent and malicious most of the time. Suddenly, they skidded to a stop as they heard a malicious laugh coming from around the corner in front of them. "I think we're about to find out, boys," Cole said uneasily, pulling out his scythe. Jay, Cole and Kai pulled out their weapons as well and Lloyd looked at them jealously. "I still can't believe I don't have my own weapon," he muttered. "Stop complaining and let's get fighting," Kai growled, running past him and around the corner. The others followed him, only to freeze to their spot after turning the corner and gape at the villain. She wore a tight black wet suit type thing and wore a black helmet on her head, concealing her face. Strapped onto her wrists were two mini rocket launchers. "Ah, finally, the main event has arrived!" she cackled, before pulling a black mace out and swinging it into the ground, shattering the bitumen in front of her. Kai glared at her and, not wanting to be showed up, sliced his blade through the air, then slamming it onto the pavement as a rush of fire lit up the metal briefly. "Bring it on," he smirked, lifting his sword off the ground. They couldn't see her face, but they knew the girl was startled, but she immediately rushed at them, welding her mace high. The battle was fierce and the girl was surprisingly strong, but definitely but stong enough. Just when she was starting to be defeated in a one on one fight with Kai, the ninja heard a familiar voice calling out. "Go Kai!" They all turned to see Nya running towards them, waving like crazy. Kai gasped and ran towards Nya, almost getting hit with the mace head. "What are you doing here, Nya?" he shouted angrily, "I told you to stay home!" He tried to grab her, but she dodged him. "I'm my own person, Kai," she shouted back, "I don't need you looking after me anymore. Look! I'll show you!" Before he could stop her, she snatched Jay's numbchucks and ran at the girl. "Nya!" Jay and Kai cried in union as she ducked the mace and knocked the girl over. The two girls fought for ages, before, finally, the girl fell to the ground and Nya took her mace, walking back to the ninja triumphantly. She gave Lloyd the mace and Jay his numbchucks. "That was a very dangerous idea, Nya!" Kai shouted, storming towards his sister, "You could've been killed!" Nya glared at him. "You think everything will kill me," she snapped, "Well, guess what? That didn't kill me! And neither will this!" "Neither will wha..." Before Jay could finish his question, Nya grabbed his shirt and pulled him into a kiss. He felt his face heat up as rage covered Kai's face. Nya pulled back, sighing in ecstasy. Kai opened his mouth to speak, but before he could say anything, the girl who had been lying in the floor, jumped up and tackled Nya, before pulling out a syringe and stabbing Nya in the neck with it. Nya cried out in pain, struggling underneath the girl's weight as she injected the contents into Nya's throat, before getting ripped off and thrown into a building. Jay kneeled beside Nya, calling her name in a panic as her eyes slowly started to close and her breathing became shallow. Cole and Zane ran after the girl, who was making an escape as Lloyd called the ambulance. Kai just stood there, anger and distress keeping him glued to the pavement. He glared down at Nya, tears in his eyes. "I told you!" he shouted over and over as Jay cried, hugging her body close to his, "I told you, I told you, I told you!"
