The Fire Within

Chapter 14

Kai blinked at the two twins in shock. "B...but that's impossible!" he exclaimed, "I don't even know you! And what makes you think it wasn't another two kids? And they were both girls!" The girl winced and her brother wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "We know because we felt it. And it wasn't us under the table," he looked at his sister sadly, "It was our younger sisters." Kai looked to Naomi, but she shook her head. "They died in the fire," she stated, almost too calmly, "I'm their cousin." "We tried to save them, but it was already too late," the boy said, "Our lives were never the same. We've not been able to have normal interactions with others ever since." "Wow," was all Kai could mutter in response. Naomi nodded slowly. It must've suck to lose their sisters to a fire. He knew he wouldn't have been able to cope if Nya had died all those years ago. "We've only had each other and Naomi for all these years," the boy stated, "We've not left each others side, we've but left the house even, in fear of losing each other like we did our darling Tym and Austin." "I'm the only one who leaves the house," Naomi added, "I don't fear the unknown." She looked to her cousins. "You should learn not to be afraid. Fear is the enemy and being hidden from the world and it's many wonders is worse than death." Kai frowned and so did the twins. "I am not afraid," the girl protested, "I left the house the other day while you were out and Oliver was sleeping." The boy, Oliver, looked at her in shock. "But, Olivia...your face..." "I wore a helmet," she stated, "And before you get up me because I'm incapable of looking after myself, I got into this epic fight with that boy and his friends and won." Kai felt his jaw drop, then before another weird could be uttered, Kai jumped at Olivia, pushing her into the wall and pinning her by her neck, causing Oliver and Naomi to cry out in surprise. "So you're the little fighter who put my sister in a coma," he spat, "Why I outta..." "Coma?" she asked, looking confused and a bit hurt, "I didn't put her in a coma." "Yes you did!" "No, I..." Before she could finish, Kai's phone started ringing. He let go of the girl and whipped it out. "What?" he snarled. "K...Kai..?" It was Jay. His voice sounded strangled, as though he was crying. "What?" he asked, a bit softer. "I...think you should come home now..." He gave a fiery glare to Olivia before replying. "I'm kinda busy, Ja..." "It's Nya..."

Oh no! What's happened to Nya? I actually haven't decided yet, but it'll be God once I've thought of it. Anyway, updates are gonna be a little longer cause we're getting to end of term at school (aka exam and assignment times, yay XP) I'll try get next chapter asap.
