Fire. Screaming. Blood. Crying. Kai woke with a start, panting heavily, the images of his nightmare still vivid in his mind. He peeled the covers back and glanced at Naomi. She was fast asleep. Kai sighed. He didn't wake her. He leaned back into the pillows, wiping away the beads of sweat clinging to his forehead. The nightmare was familiar, but was not at the same time. It was like...no! He scowled to himself. He mustn't think of that. He was over it...or was he? He shook his head. "Stop it Kai," he grumbled, standing up, "It was nothing like..." "Kai?" He looked behind him in surprise at Naomi, who was sitting up in the bed, wiping her eyes sleepily. "Are you leaving?" He bit his lip as a sad look covered her face. "No, no, I'm not leaving," he said softly, going to sit beside her, "I... Just had a bad dream..." "Oh?" she tilted her head slightly, "What about?" Kai but his lip again. He wanted to tell her, but he hardly even knew her. "It was a memory from when you were younger, wasn't it?" He jumped Naomi's grave eyes met his, then nodded. "Yeah, I think so. It was like the time when..." he stopped and glanced at her shyly. She didn't say anything and he couldn't bear it. "When me and my sister were little, we lived with our uncle Dan. He was a drunkard and abusive. One day, he lost something and said she stole it. It...it was horrible... He set the house on fire, I ran into the kitchen and Nya was under the table screaming and crying in fear. I just managed to coax her out before..." He froze. Naomi put a hand on his shoulder sympathetically, but he shook his head. "No, that's not it... It was just my sister...in my dream...there was...two little kids under the table..." He looked up at her and saw pain fill her face. "Was...was one of them you?" "No." They both turned to the doorway in surprise and saw the same eyes as before glowing in the shadows...but there was something off about them. They watched as the eyes moved into the light and his eyes widened as he saw not one, but two people emerge from the shadows. They were almost identical. Both wore an orange shirt and black slacks. Both had mid shoulder length hair. Both were pale as snow. Which made the charred black skin on their faces stand out. It was almost symmetric. The girl's left side was burnt black and the boy's right side was too. The piercing blue eyes lay in the unburnt sides, as the ones on the charred skin seemed to be welded shut. It was scary as hell. The twins looked at Kai gravely. "That was us."
