I sat still on the concrete and strapped on the skates. I scoffed. “We’re actually doing this?” I looked to Gabby who was adjusting her shoe laces.

“There are no walkers anywhere. Over here, you can actually do crazy stuff like this.” She slowly stood up.

Carl and Roy were behind us just watching.

The plan was, we actually skate down a hill. This is scaring the crap out of me. It was Gabby’s idea. I was learning quick that she was an adrenaline junky. I followed her lead and got up. My stomach was going in knots.

I turned around. “You sure you don’t wanna join?” I asked Carl. My only. My love. My everything. I’d been saying that to myself every time I thought about him now. I really gotta stop.

“Ahaha. No. You go ahead. I’m completely fine right here, next to Roy.” Carl was laughing at me.

“Next to Rooooy!!!” Roy screeched and clapped then tapped Carl’s shoulder out of excitement.

“Ok! Ready!?” Gabby beamed at me.

“I’m not so sure this is a good idea.” I looked down the hill. It wasn’t that steep but geez…I’m not the best skater either way.

“Come on!” Gabby slowly went forward and made me follow. The decent was really easy at first. I thought I’d fall forward before anything else happened but no.Gabby crouched and then zoomed downward going “WHOOOOO!!!” as if there wasn’t a care in the world. It was nice. Acting like this. No walkers to worry about. I followed her example and went for it.

                Too fast! Too fast!

I hit a rock under my wheels then went veering off the road into some bushed and brambles with some more tiny rocks. Wow. I bet that looked sexy.

Yup. I feel a fool. But more importantly, I feel really sore. I rolled onto my back and heard Carl and Gabby yelling my name.

I felt some blood on my arm and noticed I didn’t have a cut. “What the…?”

I trailed off, turned my head to the side and saw a Walker’s face right in mine.
