I ran towards Vernetta’s place to demand an explanation. Carl was right behind me.
“Audrey?” Granny stood slowly and Gabby raced towards me.
“Audrey! Stop!” She grabbed hold of me.
“Let me go! Do you know what Conroy has been doing?!” I yelled at her.
Those large eyes just widened and she bit her lip in sheer panic.
“Audrey please. We’ll figure this out. Just please be calm.” Granny slowly walked over to us with Grant helping her.
“Did you know?!” Carl yelled back at Granny.
“Calm down Carl!” Grant hissed back.
I just shoved away from them and hurried towards the book store.
“Audrey!” Gabby started to race after me as I ran down the stuffy pathway towards the back.
I pulled out my knife and hurried around the corner. “Vernetta! Come out now! I want answers!” I growled. It didn’t take long for me to see a door just up ahead somewhat cracked open. She was probably in there.
I ran over and pushed it open to see a pitch black room and some stairs.
“Vernetta?” I slowly speak hoping she would reply.
No answer.
Pretty soon though, a foul smell started to reach up to my nose.
“Oh.” I cringed and slowly started to walk down. “Vernetta. It’s time we talked.” I said a little louder than I wanted.
My heart was racing, yet again, but I was in a complete state of anger.
“You’re people are starting to get really sick.” I slowly approached the end of the room where another door was closed shut.
“Vernetta?” I whispered, noticing the smell was coming from the door and a light was flickering on the other side.
It was so raw and blunt in here.
I gripped my knife and opened the door so a wave of raw and rotting flesh attacked me.
I instantly started to cough when I noticed the bodies in front of me.
Two seconds and I was on the ground puking.
“Oh gosh.” I coughed and looked ahead of me.
There were, children. Naked children in front of me. Not walkers though. Decomposing 5 and 7 year olds scattered on the floor overlapping each other with their small limbs. My eyes went up to the wall and it was decorated with scalps and other patches of flesh.
It was like a collection.
My hand was too unstable to grip the dagger anymore.
My senses had taken a huge shock.
How long has Vernetta been doing this?!
I felt my head pound from the smell, and noticed some little boys eyes had been cut out. Now they only looked like horrific dead dolls.
The rest is…too horrid to go into.
“It’s time we had a talk.”
I spun onto my feet and saw Vernetta, normally dressed, in the doorway up the stairs. Her silhouette the only thing I could identify.
“A long talk.”
And she slowly made her way down the stairs, shutting the door behind her.
_______
Well. That's interesting. Vernetta has a pretty weird hobby if you ask me. Allll those children. I guess after their parents turned to walkers, Conroy had his fun as well as Vernetta. Partners in crime. If only Audrey had listened. But if you knew this was going on, would you have wanted to stay???
Vote, comment, or not...but I like comments alot sooo. hahaha XD
