"I know now that I'm so down," -5 Seconds of Summer
For once, I didn’t wake up because of some annoying alarm, but because of the agonizing sunlight that seeps through thin white curtains.
Thin white curtains? Last I remember that there’s nothing like this in the dorm.
I tried looking up, but something tough but soft is preventing me to move. It’s too heavy to be a pillow, so I raised my hands to touch whatever this is, and I feel something muscular. My eyes completely opened up, and seeing Nate beside me in an unfamiliar bed is enough to be a wake up call.
Using my peripheral vision, I tried looking around me, and seeing blue around didn’t ease my thoughts. This might be his room, but the question is, how in the world did I get here?
“Fiere,” Nate muttered, making me bolt up in surprise.
The sudden movement made my head throb in pain, but it seems that this is something different. It pounds so hard that I literally feel like my head’s being tackled by multiple sumo wrestlers.
“Ugh,” I groaned. “What in the world is happening to me?”
Nate chuckled and sat up with me. “Hang-over. Didn’t you remember anything from last night?”
We are in his room, on his bed, and he was beside me when I woke up. A wave of pure panic rushed through my body, making my head hurt more, but nonetheless, I looked at him skeptically.
“D- Did something... something happen last night?” I stuttered.
“Yeah..,” he looked at me in confusion until he realized what I’m talking about. “I mean no! No, what the- No we didn’t do anything. You got drunk during the party last night so I brought you here instead in your dorm so I can watch over you, but as I was about to go to my room, you asked me to stay here. I didn’t try anything, I swear.”
From the look in his eyes, he’s telling me the truth. I sighed in relief. As of now, I can’t feel anything but appreciation for him, because if he was another guy, I’m most likely had been taken advantage of already.
So I hugged him tightly. It took him time to respond, but he wrapped his arms on my waist as well. “Thank you.”
“It’s no problem.”
I pulled away for a bit. “No, seriously, thank you.”
“Didn’t I tell you? Friends would always be in each other’s sides,” he shook his head.
Then, as unforeseen, the wooden door banged open, making my and Nate’s heads snap to its direction. At the side revealed DJ with a knowing smirk plastered on his face.
“Breakfast is ready. But now kids, use protection.”
He shut the door with his leg, but we didn’t miss his loud laughter that erupted in the hallway.
Nate kept an impassive face, but the slight shaking of his shoulders tells me that he’s preventing himself from laughing. “Such a crazy guy.”
I chuckled. “Let it go. Anyways, can I use your bathroom?”
“Yeah, there is a guest bathroom over there. Just use it,” he pointed at the door beside the drawers.
I smiled at him. “Thanks. See you downstairs.”
When I stepped in front of the mirror, what I first thought was ‘Medusa finally decided to give me a visit’. I shook my head to get rid of those thoughts and, as a while ago, I really look like death. My brown waves are clung to each other messily which reeked of alcohol. My eyes have bags underneath them and looked bloodshot. My face is pale as snow and if anyone else saw me like this, probably Nate and DJ, they may have thought that I have seen a ghost or something.
