"I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way" -Fall Out Boy
"Come on, Sapphire, hurry it up!"
Those are honestly the words that I seriously hate to hear right now.
I grabbed my wooden cabinet handles and forced them open. Honestly, I still can’t accept the fact that I’m leaving this place for good. Though I’m against it, though, I have no say about it. I quickly dragged my clothes hanger out and kicked the cabinet shut. I unzipped the dress and took it off from the hanger, jumping on it and proceeded to march in front of my mirror.
I stared at the glass figure for a couple of minutes, and smiled at my reflection. I'm currently wearing a fit blue dress that flows to my mid-thighs. It hugged my curves, making me feel a bit proud of attaining this figure. Pretty much fits my name, huh. I tied a white lace ribbon around my waist to match with the dress. I took my black cardigan and I got myself in, just in case Pennsylvania turns out to have freezing weather. I grabbed my mascara and lip gloss to add the final touches on my face, and I got the straightening iron to tidy up my dark brown hair.
I threw the make-up and curling iron in my travelling bag and zipped it up. I slipped my feet in my blue wedges and buckled it in. Finally feeling comfortable and sure that I didn’t leave any important thing behind, I hopped outside the room, pulling my bag with me, and locking my bedroom right after.
"Sapphire, where in the name of Zeus are you?"
I scrunched my eyebrows and walked down the stairs. "I'm coming, mother."
'Well, you better make it faster or else you’ll get late in checking in the dormitory!"
Getting interested at the floor, I averted my gaze to it as thoughts against my mom flooded my mind. “Last time I checked, there’s no certain schedule in what time I’m supposed to arrive there,” I muttered. Then realization hit me like a train as I clamped my fat mouth shut, silently regretting my words though I know that there’s no taking back.
“Excuse me?” my mom’s voice screeched, echoing in the room.
"Mom, you don't need to repeatedly remind me about that if you don't want to. I can take care of myself," I replied as I came face-to-face with her.
Mom's eyes blazed with fury as she shot up her hand and slapped me across the face.
"Oh, you can take care of yourself, huh? Then how come were you able to turn yourself to a fucking delinquent and ruin my name? I'm destroyed because of you!"
"Mom, cut your ties from me if you want to, because I honestly don't care anymore!"
I stepped back from her and held on my cheek. The pain she caused me was still fresh, and I felt her hand mark sting on my face.
"Mom, all these years, I have always been following your orders. You didn't do anything but to tell me what to do, and always tell me I'm wrong. You were always negative on everything, and through these years, I hated it. I have been bullied at school so much already, so I made them learn to back off from me. Mom, I'm so tired from all of you. Now that I'll be living across the state, you can now freely do whatever you want. I'm now on my own!"
I wiped the tears that I didn't know were flowing, and walked to the front door.
I slammed it shut with most of my remaining strength, and looked at it for a few seconds. I can't believe that I just talked back to my mom. I never did it before. And I cried. How pathetic of me.
