“Save me from the nothing I’ve become” –Evanescence
I craned my aching neck to take a glance at the wall clock. Three AM, oh great. Remind me to remove my addiction to cartoons.
Well, this happened. Me, Sierre, Nate and Nilla were lounging in the living room from five to ten in the evening just to watch any available good cartoon show, until Nate considered ten as a late hour, so they decided to go home. Being the stubborn kids we are, Sierre and I stayed awake until midnight just to continue watching. The problem, I wasn’t able to find myself sleeping, so at one, I turned on the television again and watched Oggy and the Cockroaches (childish, right?) until now.
Snuggling into the warmth of my blankets, I grabbed the remote and switched channels. Finding no worthy show, I flipped it back to Cartoon Network and saw that The Amazing World of Gumball is now up. At least there’s something to watch now.
After a while, I raised my hand to take a peek at my wristwatch. Currently, it says that it’s already 3:42. I averted my gaze back to the show.
The last thing that I remembered is Gumball jumping into a garbage can, when I finally dozed in to dreamland.

“Sapphire, within five seconds without you waking up, I will make sure to shove your dirty ass in your mouth!”
I know that that’s such a nice thing to hear as you start off a happy new day.
I pushed myself in order for me to sit up, yet that resulted in me landing back on the hard floor with a thud. So, I rolled until my face is planted on the floor, bent my knees until it stood on the floor, pushed my hands on the floor and stood up on the floor. And did I mention that I was lying down on a floor?
Wait, did I just say floor?
“Hey Sierre, why am I lying down on the floor?” I asked.
She rolled her eyes and ignored my question. “What time did you sleep?”
She knew? “I- I slept the same time you slept. Don’t you remember?”
“Don’t play games to me, sissy. The TV was on when I woke up, you were sprawled against the floor, and before I slept, you were up there,” she directed a pointing finger on the upper bunk bed. “Don’t think that I didn’t put two and two together.”
I smiled at her sheepishly. “Four.”
“What?!” she exclaimed. “You only had an hour of sleep!”
I raised an eyebrow at her, but then I realized what she was indirectly saying. “Why in the world did you wake me up at five in the morning?!”
She looked down while playing with her fingers. “I- uh, I told Nate and Nilla that we’ll pass by their mansion at six so that we could go to school together. But, don’t worry; I know how we can reach there.”
I shrugged. “We’re already up. It’s not like I can slump myself back on the floor and risk us almost being late again.”
“Thank you, thank you!” Sierre beamed while jumping up and down.
I cocked my head to the side and chuckled. “It’s no big deal. Why, is Megan Sierra Irons harboring a crush on Nate?”
Her eyes popped at my retort. “Yeah- I mean no- Maybe- Ye- No...but- no, no, no!”
“You do have a crush on Nate!” I squealed as I doubled in laughter; I clutched my sides and literally rolled on the floor.
She ducked her head. “No! How can you accuse me something like that?”
