Chapter 74

Althea's POV:

I woke up around 8 pm, the bonfire was starting at 9 so I decided to just get ready,

I took a shower and got dressed, I wore black sweats with a yellow aero Tshirt, and my hair was up in a ponytail.

I left the hotel and met up with everybody in a huge field, the bonfire caught my eye, it was surprisingly big. And the night sky really made it pop.

A bunch of logs were set out near the bonfire and I laughed because it made me think of the camping trip.

I sat alone on a log, I was waiting for Hayes to be honest.

Maria was sitting with Jeff, they've started dating a few days ago,
Andrea and Jen were sitting together,
Anna and some guy,
And Mae was sitting with mr athletic.

It made me laugh also because tomorrow was our last day here and I still haven't figured out mr athletics name.

A face in the distance caught my eye,

Black hair,

The same memory flashed into my mind.

Dj.

I got scared for a moment, I looked at the fire.

I jumped, someone grabbed my shoulders

"Boo!" I turned around and there was Hayes, he wore a black sweatshirt from his lacrosse team and black track sweats.

He laughed at me, "you jumped!" He said as he took a seat beside me on the log,
"Shut up" I joked,
"You got scared though!" He smirked,
I whispered over to him, close enough that my mouth was basically kissing his ear,
"Well how can I not jump? I thought you were dj.."
His face looked blank for a moment, and his blue eyes sunk into my brown eyes.

His eyes were absolutely beautiful.

He wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer to him and whispered in my ear,

"Don't worry.. I'm here"

I smiled,

Yes he was here.

So please don't leave.

The whole bonfire was fun, it reminded me so much of the camping trip. There was so many laughs and so much smiles, that's what I really wanted on this trip.

I looked up at the sky and Hayes saw me and copied me.

He smiled at me.

A million stars...and I'm still only the best friend. I thought in my head,

Hayes's POV:

A million stars, but she's the only star I want.

Althea's POV:

Our teacher came to the bonfire a few moments later, "tomorrow is the last day"
Everybody groaned and complained,
I didn't argue, I hated leaving also.

"BUT, we'll be going on a hike to the hollywood sign and do some star gazing!" He continued, everyone cheered. I realized he was holding something in his hand, a bunch of little lanterns and strips of paper and a load of pens,

"Um.. Sir? What's that for?" I asked,
Everyone looked at his hands and started asking the same question,
"Alright alright, I want everybody to write their biggest secret on a piece of paper, and then we'll tie it to the lantern and then we will set the lanterns free. It's a good writing assignment to let your feelings out, Even if they are really embarrassing"

Everybody laughed but eventually we all got up to get a lantern and a strip of paper.

It took my a while to think of what I would write down, but then I thought of one;

"I fell for him."

I wrote it down, tied it to the lantern and let it free. Only the stars and moon will know my secret.

Hayes's POV:

I wrote down my biggest secret who no one knew yet, not even Jeff, I haven't told anyone yet:

"I fell for my best friend"

I wrote it down, tied it to the lantern and let it free.
