Hey guys.
So, halfway through this update, I found out some rough news.
My mom's brain cancer has grown back and she has to go back to the hospitals and go through treatments again.
I'm sorry if the last half of this is rushed. I wasn't in the right mind to write properly. I'm so sorry guys.
Also, sorry if updates are sparingly through the next few weeks. This may be the last update until next week at least. I won't be home a lot; either at hospitals or at other people's houses.
Thank you.
Chapter 28: Bruises and Nails
They said he’d be back at school within a few days. That was a week ago, and maybe a week or two counts as a few days. But this was driving me crazy. Why was this making me insane? Why couldn’t I concentrate? Why…
Tristan sure noticed. It was lunch time and we were smoking outside again.
“You’re awfully quiet,” he said, mumbling through the cigarette between his teeth.
“Yeah,” I mumbled.
“What’s on your mind?”
I frowned, “I don’t know. One of my friends hasn’t been here in awhile.”
He was quiet for a moment, rubbing the burnt end of the cigarette on the pillar wall then holding it in front of his mouth again. “Who? All your friends have been here. Zoey, Natalia, Danielle, and Kylie. That’s your friends.”
I stayed silent.
“Unless you’re talking about Robbie. He hasn’t been here in a week, right?”
Fuck. Fuck.
I tossed my cigarette to the ground and crushed it. He looked up from the ground and at me.
“What the hell are you doing?” he asked.
“I don’t feel like smoking.”
He sighed.
“I know about you and Robbie, Arianna.”
I looked up from my feet. “H..h-huh?”
“You and Robbie,” he said, “you fucked with him in the shower, right?”
I felt impossibly sick. My stomach was twisting in on itself, my knees weakening and I felt the urge to run. And so I tried.
I began sprinting to the door to get back inside the school. Right as I reached the handle, he grabbed my wrist and yanked me back toward him, throwing weight and strain in my shoulder. I cried out, trying to run again but only hurting myself more.
“Why?” he demanded.
“Tristan! Leave me alone!” I shouted, trying to hit his arm away but he held me tighter, spitting out his cigarette to grab my other arm and pin me to the wall.
“Why?” he repeated.
“Just let me!” I yelled.
“No!” he cried, raising his voice to match mine, “you did this! You tell me why!”
I began crying, trying to thrash and get out of his hands but he held me tighter.
“Arianna,” he said, calmer this time but still insanely intimidating, “stay away from him.”
