"Whose that?" Liam whispered so low into my ear it was barely a sound at all.

I didn't want risk them hearing us so I just shook my head for the moment.

I was staring intensely at the figures as they neared.

Pressure building in my chest with each moment as I recognized the woman.

"You can't go about it like that." My mother whispered, sounding slightly amused.

"You can't expect me to take fall for everything, they'll know." the man chuckled, keeping it low.

"Well you can't do this at the ceremony." she said sternly. "There will be to many allied packs there."

"In the chaos no one will notice if one kid goes missing." he paused, "Staging a distraction, no one would even know. They'd all think it was Damon."

Damon? What would they blame him for?

"And as soon as she's dead we'll be strong enough to win the new war and take the packs under. Its really quite simple Cassandra." He smiled as they stopped in the middle of the room by some couches to sit.

"Is killing her really necessary?" My mother chuckled.

"Or better yet she could become a weapon." he suggested enthusiasticly.

"No, No. She's much to smart for that." My mother sighed and set her hands in her lap.

"She could become sired".

My mother seemed to consider this and my curiousity grew.

What the hell are they talking about?

"That just may work.."

"Cassandra," Damon's father took her small hands in his and leaned forward, "imagine that, with her, there's no way we can't lose the war".

What war? For what?

"I've already got a vampire clan on our side. Whomever doesn't merge willingly will be fought in a war." He grinned manicly.

"Logically though, no one wants to be under one alpha pair, it will be nearly impossible." She shook her head.

"Darling",

Darling?!

"You will be surprised what people endure for power, and promises of life after death, or even only to escape a fate worse then death its self." he reasurred.

"I suppose your right," She laughed quietly. "Think of what we can do with all of this at our fingertips. No more hiding from humans, they will be the ones on their knees,"

"No more anything but what we deserve. power and happiness." he finished.

Those are two very different things that don't often mix if you ask me.

"Ahh," my mother seemed to get an idea. "We may not have to do much to get her to play along."

"Go on dear," he seemed excited.

"She almost died. She would've died for Aspen if not for your son." He looked past him and I thought maybe she was looking at me, but she wasn't, she was just off somewhere else. "All we need is to hold aspens life in our hands and she will do whatever we ask."

I went ridged and it became clear as if it hadn't been already that she was talking about me. I was so confused but it was clouded with anger as I realized they were planning on hurting Aspen. Any other possible problems that had been mentioned were not registering.
