Chapter 1

-Spring Break-

Nichole's POV:

I pulled my large black suitcase out from underneath my bed, so I could begin packing for my annual trip to North Carolina. Every year my Dad's side of the family would have a reunion at my Uncle's lake house on Norman Lake.

I threw in eight pairs of bikinis, a few pairs of shorts from Brandy Melville, crop tops, some cute sun dresses and of course my work out clothes. I zipped it up and rolled the suitcase into the front dining room, so it would be ready for tomorrow's flight.

I walked back into my room, closed the large white wooden door behind me and slowly dimmed the lights down so my eyes could adjust to the darkness. I leaped into bed excited for the next day to begin, I just couldn't wait to be back in North Carolina.

-Next Morning-

I woke up to the high pitched ringing of my alarm. I leaned over to my nightstand and pulled it out of the dock so it would shut up. 5:30 am. I was not okay waking up without the sun in the sky. I slowly dragged myself out of bed to turn the light switch on, so I was able to get dressed.

I put on my blue acid-washed shirt with my black high school beach volleyball hoodie on top, to keep me cozy throughout the flight. I ran into the laundry room to grab my gray pair of ankle length Lululemon leggings which were still warm from the dryer. I slipped on my light tan rainbows and walked into the bathroom.

I washed my face and brushed my teeth and hair. I put on a coat of mascara, and a little bit of concealer so I wouldn't cover up all my freckles. I split my golden-auburn hair in half and braided it into a staright fish tail.

I walked back into my room to grab my navy blue herschel backpack, which was full of my carry-on items and headed for the front door. As I opened up the dark wooden door, I realized how cold and night-like the early morning sky was. I picked up the black suitcase in my right hand and slowly walked down the brick steps to the big yellow taxi van in my driveway.

My sister Mackenzie followed her light brown hair in a tight bun, she wore a red sweatshirt and dark jeans. The drive to LAX was pretty short, the taxi smelled like smoke and old people, it was not a good combination. Once we arrived, we checked in for our flight and headed for the security line. After we found our terminal, Mackenzie and I sat down in the terminal's black leather seats, but my parents got up to go find breakfast.

"Hey Mom!" I stated as she turned around slightly. "Can you please get me a small breakfast burrito?"

"Okay. Do you want one too, Kenzie?" My mom asked looking over at my sister.

"Yes please, and can you grab me a water?" Kenzie replied with a slight smile.

We ate our breakfast slowly still tired from the lack of sleep, it was now 7:25 am. Five more minutes, I thought to myself. I grabbed my phone from the small front pocket of my backpack, to text my best friend Annie.

Nichole: hey girl, just about to board the plane, I just wanted to wish you luck at Fullerton!! I'll text you when we land, love ya

Annie: Hay chicaa. I'm up waaaay to early too. Baylor, wanted to get ahead start today before we left.

Nichole: haha sounds like fun

Annie: not exactly.

"Flight 314, to Rowan County Airport, will begin boarding." was announced over the loud speaker.

Nichole: yea well good luck this weekend, anyways I have to board now. I'll text you when we land

Annie: mkay have a safe flight byee

We grabbed our backpacks off of the multicolored floor and headed for the end of the long boarding line. As we walked past the rows of people and suitcases, a really cute boy caught my eye. I got a quick glimpse of him; dark hair, pale skin and bright blue eyes. I had a feeling like I've seen he somewhere before, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Once we boarded I began to look around for my seat, slowly walking to the back of the plane, counting the number of rows in my head, 20... 21... 22... Finally 23D. I looked over and noticed my family had A-C 23, so I was left out and had to sit across the aisle from them. Great, I hate isle seats, the window seats are always the best, you get to see the sunrise or sunset and the great big city below you. I sat down a little disappointed, before I slid my backpack under the seat in front of me I noticed a person sitting in the window seat.

The guy was taking a bunch selfies and adjusting his hair every few pictures. What a weirdo? He looked really stupid taking pictures on a plane, like who does that. My eyes were glued to his phone, I was curious what idiotic thing he was going to do next. He tapped on the Instagram app, went to his profile and scrolled through some of his pictures.

I looked back down at my phone, to put it on airplane mode and realized it was the boy, the cute one that I saw in line earlier. I still didn't get a good glimpse of his face because he was looking down at his phone the whole time I was looking at him. After listening to the annoying safety procedures, I buckled up for take-off.

The lift off was a little shaky, but the sunrise was absolutely beautiful. The view from the sky is so different form the ground, the orange sun-rays engulfing the clouds, it was breath-taking.

The guy next to me was taking a bunch of pictures, no surprise there. I pulled my legs up into criss-cross applesauce position, so I could pick up my backpack. I placed it in the middle seat; no one was sitting there. I undid my braid and pulled my long wavy hair to the left side of my neck so it was out of my way and pulled my black hood over my head.

I plugged my headphones into my iPad, which was now resting on the tray table, so I could watch my movie, 'Perks of being a Wallflower'. As I was about to put my headphones in my ears, I saw him trying to pull his backpack out from the seat in front of him. It was the same as mine. He turned his head slightly and caught me staring at him. Shit! I quickly looked away at my iPad and pulled the ends of my sleeves over my cold hands.

"Nice backpack." He said, slightly smiling, struggling to pull it out from underneath the seat infront of him.

"Thanks, you too. Do you need some help with that?" I asked, glancing back down at his backpack. He nodded in a surrendered response.

I leaned over the middle seat and once we both pulled together, the bag came flying out from and hit him directly in the face. I didn't say anything he just looked so embarrassed, he gave me that kind of look. If you start laughing, I will kill you.

I tried to refrain from laughing, but I couldn't hold it in anymore, still trying to be quiet because people were sleeping. He gave up and started laughing along with me.

"I'm Nash, by the way." He said. Damn he's so cute. His bright blue eyes were memorizing.

"Nichole." I said while tucking a loose hair behind my right ear.
