After being ordered by King Lucifer V of Greyhaul to kill a heretic Duke Drake of Lionsmaine, Pride had started to act differently. He was normally full of himself and killed all of those standing in his, and the King's, way. However now he was more regretful than prideful, and is hesitant on all the orders the King assigns him.
No one knew why, but many think it's because Drake was his brother, and pride was forced to kill him. Though those who think so don't even know if they were related in any way. Thus multiple other theories about him started spreading.
However after a while of King Lucifer getting angry at Pride's irritable misconduct, he secretly ordered Pride killed, for the crime of unruly disobedience. When all 7 sins were gathered for what they thought was a debriefing of an irregular job, Pride was attacked by 2 of the King's private guards. Pride struck both down in one slash of his sword, then he went after the King.
The King was acting as if he had no idea about the attack on him. Pride, however could see strait through his lie, and attacked him. With one strike to the chest the job was done. He left the blade in the Kings chest, But took the handle with the crest of pride on it with him.
The next day the, now deceased, King's son Lucifer the VI was coronated into being King, being much younger and ruthless than his father. The new King issued a more serious and public order of Pride's death. As well as an order to get a new member for the Deadly Sins.
