The 8th Deadly Sin

Truth's Unexpected First Mission

One of the king's personal knights bursted through the door into the sin's barracks. The first one he saw was Truth. He asked "where are the other sins, there's a dire mission that needs to be done.

Truth shook her head and said "the others are on multiple other missions. The closest ones are Sloth and Envy they are down in Arcanum town doing an investigative mission." The knight said "it is okay, I think you can handle it on your own, but you need to come with me."

Truth got her hilt and left with the guard to a war room. One of the commandments were there, he announced himself as 'Number 5'. He would be debriefing Truth on her mission.

Number 5 told her "you will be going to Duellum, do not worry it is not more than a 96 furlong walk from the castles gate. You'll be doing some spy work, and I don't care how you do it. We have heard that Pride has been regularly going to a tavern there. No you are not going to be fighting him, you will only be spying on him and getting information about him. If you are quick this mission might last 2 days if not maybe a whole week."

They sent Truth out onto a small road to Duellum. They sent her in a carriage with a retired guard driving the horses. It was not even a half of an hour later when the carriage was attacked.

Truth noticed that the carriage stopped, but didn't thing anything of it. She was oblivious to the attack until one of the bandits who attacked opened the door to the carriage. The bandit saw the horn symbol on Truth and fell down to the ground.

The bandit yelled "she's a sin, run you bastards." She jumped out of the carriage and checked on the driver. He had an arrow in his shoulder, and on his left lower thigh. She told him to go back and get medical aid, as she could walk the rest of the way on her own.

As she was walking she thought about the bandit's reaction to her crest. She realized that before she got to Duellum she would have to find a disguise to not raise suspicion for Pride, or anyone else for that manner. So the first town she walked into she immediately went to a tailors shop.

When she walked in the owner was in awe saying "I can't believe that a sin has entered my shop. Please, please pick an outfit for your choosing. You nor any one higher than a foot solider doesn't have to pay for anything, but you probably already know that. Wait I am ahead of myself, I forgot to take your measurements."

The tailor took her measurements a pointed her over to pretailored clothes that would fit her. Truth saw a beautiful red dress with cuts, and lines like a dancer's dress. The tailor complemented her on her choice and gave her a small box with her selected apparel in it.

Truth found a place to change and put everything but her hat in it and she started walking towards Duellum again. She found her way into the town and saw that it was a crime filled town. She made her way to the tavern Pride was said to be going to, but she was grabbed by the owner, thinking she was a dancer, and threw her into a room and said "don't come out until it's your time, you know the rules." Truth was confused, but she realized that she could use it as her cover.
