Chapter Fourteen
† Reese's POV
I shook Mira's dad's hand firmly. He didn't smile, oh gosh. I'm screwed. He
told Mira to go inside. Then he asked if he could talk to me. He brought me
to the couch and told me to sit down. He sighed,
"My son Cale tells me that you and Mira were made for each other. He says
that she is the perfect fit in your family issues. He says she has helped you
get over things that you thought you couldn't ever accomplish. So tell me,
what are your intentions with my daughter?" Oh, geez, my intentions?
"Mr. Kress, My intentions for your daughter are not to hurt her. They are to
keep her safe from all of the bad things that could harm her. I care about
your daughter a great deal, and if I ever lost her, I don't know what I would
do. I would never take advantage of your daughter in any way. I respect
her wishes, which are also my wishes too, to wait for marriage. I really like
your daughter, sir, and I wouldn't be able to live if anything bad happened
to her." Her dad seemed impressed with my commitments.
"Please, call me Tony. Mr. Kress is my father. And thank you, Reese, for
informing me of this. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to ask if you go to
church?" I smiled,
"Yes, I do. Only, I don't go to youth group because of family issues. But I go
to the same church as you and your family do." He looked confused,
"Your a Keaton, right?" I nodded, he's going to ask about my parents.
"Your grandpa was my dads best friend, did you know that?" I smiled and
shook my head. I have a feeling that I'm doing pretty good tonight.
"Mira says that you are a hockey player, right?" I nodded,
"Yes I am." His dad chuckled,
"So, do you play any other sports?" Uh, oh. Her dad seemed like the guy to
like footballers.
"I play water polo and summer baseball." Her dad smiled a little,
"I'm impressed, Reese, I can't even swim! Its cool that you do that. Mira
also says that you are very musical, that is more of Kallie's field. But, what
instruments do you play?"
"I play drums, guitar, piano, and saxophone." Her dad nodded but then
stuck out his hand,
"Well, I better let you go, Thanks for talking, Reese. But, so you know. My
daughters curfew is ten pm. On Weekends, it is the same. No drinking,
smoking, or doing drugs around her, okay? Also, no parties, unless it is a
good one, with nothing inappropriate. And please, keep her away from
Maya, I never liked that girl." I smiled easily,
"Does this mean I can date your daughter?" He nodded and smiled,
"And also," I said, " We have something in common."
"What's that?"
"I don't like Maya..." Her dad bellowed loudly. I smiled and thanked him for
allowing me to be close to Mira.

I slowly turned into the parking lot at the home. I went to Angel's room and
found Zach and Angel cuddling in her bed. I went to my room and found
Zero reading mom and dads letters,
"What are you still doing up man?" He shrugged, I smiled, he doesn't talk
very much.
"So, do you like Mira? Because I got permission to date her, from her dad.
Do you?" He looked up at me and smiled,
"Why wouldn't I like my mommy?" I grinned. Mira has really made an
impact on my siblings life. Having a 'mom' has helped them out a bit. I
love seeing them happy about it. This is the first time Zero has talked to me
today. Weird huh? He just seems to really like the Kress' family. I mean
Cale is his best friend. And Angel is set on marrying Zach, so, it works out.
Mira has a little sister named Amy that is a year and a half older than Zero,
not too much. I sat on my bed with Zero and he must've fallen asleep
because I heard him softly snoring a second after I turned out the lights. I
plugged my headphones in and plugged my charger in and listened to
Green Day until I fell asleep, thinking about Mira.
