Zayn's POV

"Did you see Austyn while we were performing? She seemed nervous, mate." I told Harry as we walked off the stage. We hadn't told him yet that this party was actually for him. "Maybe she knew I was singing it to her." He replied. "Well ya think? You made it pretty damn obvious." Louis chimed in. You can always count on Lou to provide the sass. "You need to talk to her and tell her exactly how you're feeling. You deserve that from her as well." I say. "Eh, heads up mate." Niall said, while looking directly in from him. Austyn was walking up to us.

"You guys were amazing!" She says as we wrap her in a group hug. "Zayn, its time now." She whispers to me. She's talking about the party. It was time to surprise Harry. "I'll meet you guys out there." Austyn replied with a half hearted smile. "C'mon boys, there's something we need to do." I tell the group. Louis pulls a blindfold out of his back pocket and wraps it around Harry's eyes. "Erm, what do you think you're doing, Lou?" Harry says confused. "Oh nothing, Haz." Louis replied whilst laughing. "Okay whatever, I'll stop asking questions, ya wanker." Harry said, resulting in all of us having a laugh.
Walking out back onto the stage, its silent. "W-where is everybody?" Harry says. As he takes his blindfold off, the room full of his family and friends scream out "surprise!!" Austyn and Gemma walk up, giving Harry a hug. "Happy birthday, bro." Gemma tells her brother. He kisses her on the cheek. I watch as Harry wraps his arm around Austyn's shoulder, almost in an awkward way. I dont know why they're hiding their feelings for each other. Me and the rest of the lads know that if any two people are supposed to be together, its them.

"Let's cut the cake and then we'll do gifts." Anne says to all of us. "Funfetti cake with buttercream icing, my favorite!" Harry says, thanking his mom. "Oh no sweetheart, don't thank me. Austyn made it." She says. I watch as Harry looks over to Austyn and she responds with a smile. "Not a problem, Harry." She says.

Harry's POV

It's been almost a week and neither I nor Austyn have spoken about my song dedication. I keep trying to sit her down and talk to her about it but something is always interrupting. Customers at work, band practice, family shit. That changes tonight. "Austyn, are we still on for dinner tonight?" I ask her. "Absolutely, I've been thinking about food all day." She says, laughing.

Two Hours Later

I'm picking up Austyn in 30 minutes. As I finish getting ready, I take another look in the mirror. Blue blazer, white v neck, white skinny jeans and my favorite white converse. I wanted tonight to go well. If Austyn doesn't want to be in a relationship with me, thats fine but I couldn't handle this awkwardness between us.

I walk up to her front door. Before I could knock, she opens the door. "Hi." She said to me. Damn, she looked beautiful. Navy blue dress with strappy shoes on. The chunky heel of the shoe looked like it was made up of cork. She had her hair straightened and it was hanging down past her butt.
She was stunning. "You look perfect." I kiss her on the cheek.
"Oh." Austyn replied. I'm hoping that oh was a good thing. I escort to my car, a black 1967 Chevy Impala that I inherited from my uncle Dean. "Thank you." She says with a smile, after I open her door for her. I need to prove to her that I'm boyfriend material and not just her best friend.
On the drive there, she starts shivering, "are you cold?" I ask. "Its a little chilly, yeah." I hand her my blazer. "It looks better on you anyways."

After arriving at the Blue Palm restaurant, we are greeted by a waiter named Luke. He had a lip ring in and stubble on his face. I'm surprised a restaurant this nice would let him keep the rings in.
"

Can I start y'all off with something to drink?" He asks. Austyn and I both answer at the same time, "Dr pepper!" We both start laughing. It feels nice to be able to put the awkwardness of the past few days aside and just be with my best friend. She looked beautiful tonight. Hell, she looks beautiful every night. "Earth to Harry!" Austyn snaps her fingers. Oh god, she caught me daydreaming. "Sorry, I was just thinking." I give her a shy smile. "What were you thinking about?" She asks me. Here it goes... "I was thinking about you," she looks at me shyly. "There's some things I need to tell you but I'm afraid it will ruin our friendship, and Austyn, I don't want anything ruining what we have right now." She's really staring me down now.

Its now or never....
