"She's what they call a nightblood, but what we call an answer"
Avalon thought that she had been through hell and back.
That was nothing compared to what she faced now. These people— Mountain Men— took her away from her family. Finn, Raven, and Bellamy. She didn't have the slightest clue to if they were alive or not. Two were left for dead. One was dying in the dropship. This was worse than anything else that had happened to her.
But Avalon refuses to stop fighting until she finds her way back to them. Back to her home where she could protect her people.
If Avalon does ever make it home, what would it be? The dropship that had her friends bodies littering it? Her father's home in Polis? Would she really inherit her parent's position as grounders? To Avalon, wielding her sword, wearing their clothes and speaking their language always felt right.
But these people tell her she's special. That she can help them. Avalon doesn't want to be a chess piece in whatever game they think they're playing. She wanted out, and the Mountain Men wouldn't allow it.
Avalon knew her own Salvation was waiting for her back home. To say the least, Avalon is not a pleasant guest.
The Mountain will destroy her. Damage her in every way possible. Who she is now, isn't the same as she was a few weeks ago. She's cold-hearted, guarded, snippy, closed off. Having everything on her shoulders doesn't help either.
Neither does having eyes on you at all times. Avalon knows if she makes one wrong move against these people, she'll be a human bloodbag until her death.
Then the unthinkable happens. If Avalon wasn't changed before, she is now. It broke her, tormenting her until she forced herself to find a less hurtful way to deal with the guilt. The people around her don't know who she is anymore. Except the two closest, who feel her pain as if it was their own.
Finding out who she is along the process, Avalon swears to kill anyone who hurts the people she loves. Anyone.
