Who Does Lucas Love?

Farkle looked back again and saw Lucas alseep with both girls sleeping on his shoulders. The sight made him envious.

He saw Lucas waking up and tried to stop himself from glaring at him. He watched as Lucas looked down at Maya on his right shoulder and smiled. Maybe he does love Maya. Farkle thought to himself, but then Lucas noticed Riley was leaning on his other shoulder and smiled down at her. No, I was right, he loves Riley.

Farkle frowned and Lucas slowly stood up making the two girls have to lean against each other then he walked over to Farkle. "Mind if we switch for awhile? I need to talk to Zay about stuff."

Farkle nodded and stood. "Sure, but you could talk to me, I'm your friend."

Lucas chuckled and nodded. "I know, but I don't want to put you in the middle. You love them both equally, right?"

Farkle nodded. "Yes, of course. You don't?"

Lucas sighed. "I like them both differently. That's all I know right now."

Farkle sighed. "Fine. Well just figure it out soon."

Lucas watched as Farkle walked away and saw him sit beside Riley scooting her further into Maya's side. The girls didn't seem to mind. They went from leaning to cuddling in a minute.

"Zay." Lucas sighed. "Zay, wake up, buddy."

"Huh? What? Why?" Zay slowly opened his eyes. "Are we there yet?"

"Another hour probably. I switched with Farkle. I have to talk to you."

Zay yawned and sat up so he wasn't slouching in his seat anymore. "What's up man? You can talk to me about anything."

Lucas blew out a breath. "Riley and Maya."

Zay blinked. "Okay, but I should warn you I may be bias towards one."

Lucas bit his lip. "Which one would that be?"

"I ain't telling. Now what's up? What are you thinking about them?"

"I'm thinking they are two best friends and I wouldn't like it if some girl came between you and I so what right do I have to come between the two of them?"

Zay nodded and clicked his tounge on his teeth. "I have feelings for Maya."

Lucas looked at him with wide eyes then he blinked. "What? You do?"

Zay nodded. "Yeah, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship so I kept my mouth shut, ya know."

Lucas sighed. "Why didn't you say anything sooner? Why now while I'm in this triangle, Zay?"

"I dunno. I guess I was afraid she wouldn't like me anyway, I mean who would choose me over you? You're the perfect one, I'm the broken one."

"No. You're selling yourself short, just like Maya does. She's not broken and neither are you. She is an amazing girl and she would be lucky to be with you, man."

Zay nodded. "I know, but I don't really see her that way. She's a great friend though. Great girl too."

Lucas shook his head. "Wait. What did you-"

"I gave away who I'm bias for, my bad." Zay said with a wide grin.

Lucas sighed again. "She didn't say anything because she didn't want to ruin her friendship with Riley." He gulped.

"You already knew that. Keep digging dude."

He frowned. "She didn't say anything because she didn't think it would matter. Why would I choose her over Riley? Riley is pretty, and cute, and funny, and nice."

Zay opened his mouth to speak then snapped it shut. "Uh oh. Maya."

Lucas blinked, but one look at Zay's face told him all he needed to know. He slowly turned around.

"Maya, I was- We were-"

Maya threw on a fake smile and they could tell.

"No sweat, Ranger Rick. Just tell Riley you choose her and be done with it." Maya said then she turned and walked away to find the bathroom.

"I'm an idiot." Lucas sighed. "She wasn't meant to hear that."

Zay nodded. "I know, but she did. Now you got to go fix it, buddy."

"NEXT STOP NORTH CAROLINA. TRAIN B."

Lucas sighed and stood. He was about to go look for Maya, when she came back, walked around him, and over to Riley.

"If she tells Riley before you can talk to her then you'll be in hot water."

Lucas groaned. "I know."
