( Austin's Part)
I lay my head against the wall. This room hasn't had light since that day so long ago. When she was just walking out the door and stopping to give me a kiss before she left. Her smile was the last thing I saw as she had head out the door suitcase in hand. She was only supposed to be gone for a few days but that was a two week ago. God I just wanted her home again. I trace the outline of her face in the photo we had took, just a few months before. She was so beautiful. A tear slids down my face dripping down onto the corner. I whipe it away gently with my thumb just like I use to when she cried over her miscarriage. Holding her all night while she had cried until the room was silent when she fell asleep. She should be here, holding me now. A knock echoes from down the hall. I struggle to stand laying my weight against the wall. I walk down the halls that are covered in pictures more pictures of her. Another knock on the door louder this time. I open the door the sun blinding me for just a moment.
" Sir is this the residence of Austin Taylor?"
" Y-Yes that's me."
" Mr. Taylor we have some information on a missing person.. Brittany Daniels."
I breath in harshly the man awaits for mt reaction but I can't utter a single sound. They found her.
" Where is she?"
"Mr.Taylor I'm sorry to inform you that miss Daniel's car was found in the river. It seems she wrecked and was unable to get out of her car in time."
My heart stops a picture falls glass shattering. I stare at it watching the glass scatter across the floor. I hear the man speaking but I tune him out. I walk over to the picture hearing my brother yell my name in the background. I fall to my knees feelings sharp pains from the glass underneath me but I take no notice to them. I pick up the picture frame. Tears begin to blur my vision but not before I can make it out. Brittany's face now unrecognizable from the shattered glass. She was gone. This couldn't be it, ending in nothing but shattered glass. Losing her, but this time... she's in my arms lifeless.
" Haylee, Haylee no please baby please."
" Austin come one we have to take her to the hospital."
She's gone, I lost her, all I wanted was this to end right.Tyler did this. I look up but Tyler is already gone he wasn't getting away this time.
" Austin we're trying to help Haylee you just have to help us."
" It's not to late she can still make it."
I pick her up, my heart breaking as her hand doesn't grip my arm or that her eyes don't open to a cheesy smile. Her hand just limp against my side. I lay her in the back. Blood harshly pounds against my skull making the lights seem dimmer. A hand grabs me and I flinch . Simon looks at me, his face red tears streaming down his own face. He points at the person on the ground.
" Just go I have to help her."
I nodd and jump into the car and take off down the road. Haylee was the only thing that mattered. If there's a chance that I can save her then I will do anything to make sure that happens." Hey somebody help me!"
I run in Haylee in my arms the emergency room empty but three nurse runs in alarmed.
" Please she needs help."
A man with a bed rolls in amd they take her from me. The nurses frantically start pressing down on her wounds to stop the bleeding.
" She was kidnapped and beaten she was stabbed she started breathing again just a few moments ago please please help her."
" Sir we are gonna do everything we can but I need you to calm down for me."
I grab onto Haylee's hand as they lead her down the hall. Nurses and doctors talking all at once. Doors passing by Haylee lays on the bed a mask on her face bruises all over her face. My heart burns into my throat. I should have gotten there sooner.
" Austin you tried and there's still a chance."
Doors open leading into a white room with bright lights. A man holds me back as they begin to strap things to her. I try to push forwards needing to be by her but the man refuses and walks me towards the door.
" Wait no! I can't leave her."
" Sir we need you to calm down you are not allowed in this room."
" I have to help her!"
The man pushes me back and crosses his arms. A nurse stands next to him and lays a hand on my arm.
" If you really want to help her then you need to let the doctors do their job and tell us everything that happened."
My heart aches for her, to hold her hand to tell her everything would be alright.... but I knew they were right. I look at the doors looking at what I could see of her .
" Her name is Haylee Seville she was kidnapped by a man named Tyler Granger."
" Do you know where Tyler is?"
" H-he ran away but he can't get away not this time. He killed someone a long time ago his name was Max but they never knew who did it until now."
"Are you sure that this man was the one who killed him?"
" Yes I'm sure."
" Alright you say he stabbed her amd had beaten her. Were you a witness?"
" I saw him take her and I followed him."
" What is your relationship with the patient?"
I look at the nurse and feel the air around me tighten.
" She's my f-fiance. I can't lose her."
The pain in my chest knocks me to my knees. I bury my face into my hands and for the first time in so long I begin to cry. The glass was shattered all over again.( Max's part)
7 Hours later
" She's holding on, as long as the doctors can do the rest she should make it, she'll be fine."
" Max."
A hand reaches out for mine I instincly grip it into my hands. Her soft hands comforting. I bring it up to my mouth and kiss it but never taking my eyes off of Haylee who lays in the hospital bed hooked up to an oxygen tank the heart moniter beeping next to her. The sound of it is joyful to my ears, but her bruised face and arms distract me. She was hurt so bad.
" Baby she'll make it, she has too."
Brittany wraps her arms around me laying her head on my shoulder. I lean into her but my heart still aches. A doctor walks in with Claire and Haylee's sisters next to her. I lean forward Brittany letting go of me but still holds onto my hand. Claire's face is pale the girl's covered with tears. I use to call them my family and now they we're all in pain. I hear myself whimper slightly admidently feeling Brittany's hand tighten around mine. Please don't leave them Haylee.
" How is she?"
" Well she is stable for now but she has suffered a lot of damage. Besides the bruises, she has a fractured rib and she was stabbed in her lower abdomen. As far as we can see it didn't percied anything but we will have to do surgery to know thay for sure. But she did lose a lot of blood I'm afraid. We are trying to give her a blood transplant but I don't know how long that will take."
" If it did percie something what would happen?"
" Well we might be able to fix it luckily the attacker hadn't aimed for any major organs. He was in a hurry."
" His name is Tyler the man who hurt my sister. Have the police been told that it was him he needs to be caught."
" Yes ma'am they h-"
" Then why haven't they caught him yet?"
" Taylor!"
I watch as she runs out the room pushing past everyone her face covered in tears. I run out after her, hearing Brittany call for me. Taylor had always been like a little sister to me I couldn't stand to see her hurting so much. I couldn't help but feel guilty ifonly I had remembered maybe he wouldn't have been able to hurt Haylee. Taylor finally stops once she reaches outside she presses her back against the wall. Her cries become louder. This was all my fault why couldn't I have remembered. I should have tried harder but now it was too late. I sit down next to Taylor and begin to sob. I had made a vow to always protect Haylee even after I had died and started to fall in love with Brittany, I still would watch over her. All those times I would hide the knives from her when she was most vulnerable. Or when she was crying I would lay next to her on the bed. Even tho she couldn't see me I knew she at least could feel me and in a way that comforted her. Even if it was only for just a few hours of sleep. I whip my eyes and lean my head back. I look at Taylor and reach out laying my hand on her arm. She jerks up her head startled and looks around.
" Taylor..."
I whisper her name softly watching as the realization washes over her face.
"M-max?"( Austin's part)
Twenty-four hours laterI rub her fingers against my lips. Laying a kiss on each one of them. The slight warmth of them was the only thing that stopped the tears. Knowing she was still alive was relieving, if only she would open her eyes. Those beautiful blues with a soft smile. My Day... God how much I would do just to be able to call her that again just to hear her laugh. To tell me she loves me.
" Please don't leave me, I need you."
