taehyung held the door to the ice cream shop open, watching jimin walk in, running a hand through his brown hair. the younger trailed closely behind jimin, stuffing his hands in his pockets and keeping a straight face as he did so. jimin let out an audible sigh, rubbing at his eyes and walking toward the counter, where a tall boy with a bright smile stood.
"what can i get you two today?" he asked, leaning against the counter and giving them a friendly smile. jimin hummed and looked at the menu, before deciding on strawberry. it was one of his favorites and he didn't feel like ordering something complicated.
"i'll take strawberry," jimin beams. his smile was only half-hearted, his tiredness taking over and screaming at him to just ditch taehyung and go home to sleep the drug on wednesday afternoon away. but he wouldn't; partly because he didn't want to pass up the opportunity to hang out with a boy he's growing a crush on (very quickly, at that) and besides, it'd be rude to do so.
"cookie dough," taehyung shrugged, pulling out his wallet. he swatted jimin's hand when he saw the younger reach toward his back pocket. "no, i'm paying."
"taehyung, i can pay for―"
"no." taehyung ignored jimin and paid for the ice cream, not listening to the disapproving huffs leaving the older boy. the cashier eyed the two boys, handing taehyung back his change.
"you two are cute." he says and jimin's face flushes a bright crimson, hiding his face into his small hands. taehyung minds jimin no attention as he responded to the cashier, jimin being too shy and embarrased to himself.
"oh, we aren't together." jimin hears taehyung say, and he felt his heart drop a little bit. "we're friends."
"ah, that sucks." the cashier says, handing a small card to taehyung. "you two would be cute together, honestly."
"we would be, wouldn't we, jiminie?" taehyung winks, and jimin feels a long arm wrap around his small waist, knowing it was taehyung. his heart began to do flips, a warm feeling spreading throughout his body.
"y-yeah."
"cute," the cashier laughs, "go find a table, i'll bring your ice creams to you when they're ready."
"okay, thank you." taehyung answers, dropping his arm from the blushing boy next to him and walking in the direction of an empty table in the corner of the shop, away from everyone else. jimin followed quietly, willing himself to stop blushing and calm down before he actually passed out. jimin slid into the seat across from taehyung, thankful the seat had a window he could look out of to avoid the awkward silence between him and taehyung.
"jimin, you're falling asleep." jimin hears and he sits up, alert. he blinks his eyes quickly before looking at taehyung, eyes falling onto the bowl of ice cream sitting in front of him, as well as taehyung.
"oh, sorry." he mumbled, weakly grabbing onto the spoon and bringing it to his lips. jimin practically moaned when the sweet flavor hit his tongue, his eyes fluttering shut and lips wrapped around the spoon in a way that made taehyung shift in his seat and cough, pretending to have brain freeze.
at least it's not vanilla, taehyung thinks after he notices a little bit of the strawberry ice cream on jimin's lips.
"why are you staring at me like that?" jimin asks, his cheeks beginning to turn a light pink color. he looked down at his bowl, becoming flustered―yet again―under taehyung's gaze.
taehyung reached forward and wiped ice cream off of the corner of jimin's lips, feeling the softness and how plump they are―just as he had imagined before looking jimin in the eye and licking it off his finger, a sudden mixture of different feelings and emotions flooding through him.
"you had some ice cream on your lips." taehyung said, and jimin swore he saw him wink.
