"jiminie!" hoseok yells, gasping loudly and jogging in the direction of his small, cute blonde crush. a huge smile breaks across his face as he runs, ready to wrap jimin up in his arms and talk to him―which is exactly what he did, lifting jimin up slightly (it was an accident, hoseok swears) and walked with him to the table, an arm around his shoulders. jimin laughed airily and, god, if hoseok's heart wasn't crying before, it was now.
"i was so,lonely in p.e. chim," jungkook whines, making grabby hands for the older. jimin just giggles again and wraps his arms around jungkook's shoulders, setting his chin on the younger's head.
"sorry, kook." he apologizes, ruffling the younger's hair before greeting the rest of their small friend group and sitting in his respective seat next to hoseok. jimin leans on one hand and turns to hoseok, "what did i miss in math, hobi?"
hoseok resisted the urge to reach out and fix jimin's hair. it was hard, but he managed. instead he tried to keep his eyes from lingering on jimin's plump lips and maintained eye contact―which of, hoseok learned quickly wasn't good for his heart. "nothing much, just homework."
"ew." jimin scrunched his nose at the word and turned to face everyone else. yoongi had his head on jungkook's shoulder and had said boy's hand in his own, playing with the rings on his fingers. he smiled softly at the couple, wishing he could have a relationship like them and not the mess he had with taehyung.
"we should all go to the movies after school." jin suggested, picking at the dry, tasteless bread of his sandwich―if it could even be called that―and ran his thumb over namjoon's knuckles. it was then jimin noticed two small silver bands on each of their ring fingers, sparking his interest.
"we've barely hung out as a group since jimin joined us," hoseok said. "or at all. have we? i don't know."
"i'd love to, but i've got homework―" jimin began. hoseok cut him off with, "―that i'll help you with. we'll study tomorrow together."
"study is code word for "i'll-let-you-copy-my-work-but-get-a-few-wrong-so-it-isn't-obvious" right?" jimin asked, a light joking tone to his voice.
"of course it is," hoseok scoffed, nudging jimin in the ribs with his elbow gently. "but yeah, we really all should hang out today."
"great; it's settled, then." seokjin answered. jungkook opened his mouth to talk, but seokjin immediately stopped him. "i already know what you're going to ask and there is no way in hell i'm allowing you to drive."
"oh come on, it wasn't that bad!" jungkook protested, sulking in his seat and letting his lips fall into a pout. seokjin raises his eyebrows.
"hey jin hyung," jimin says, "i noticed yours and joon hyung's rings. what are they?"
namjoon lifts his head from seokjin's shoulder at the mention of his name. "they're promise rings. we made a promise we'd get married and live together when we graduate from this hell hole."
jimin grins, "that's really cute, hyungs."
