one year later

hoseok was a mess.

the now dark brown haired male was racing around his small dorm, pushing his dirty clothes and scattered empty water bottles and empty food wrappers or takeout boxes under his bed. his eyes glanced at the clock every few seconds and his nerves were practically through the roof. he was getting a roommate as of today and jimin was finally coming back to seoul to start his first year of college. he knew his roommate was going to be jimin, only the younger had yet to find out. either way, both boys were beyond excited to see each other after nearly a year. save for the few visits on birthdays and holidays and school breaks.

he exhaled loudly as he stood up, choosing to ignore the slight ache in his back from staying bent over for so long. he ran a hand through his hair and looked around the room; no dirty clothes or stray pieces of trash could be seen and a small pumpkin scented candle was burning on hoseok's desk. his gaze fell onto the clock for the nth time that day, panic surging through him. hurriedly, hoseok pulled the nearest sweater on and pulled on his shoes, making sure to grab his keys before heading out.

––

the cold nipped at hoseok's cheeks as he stood by a bench, silently cursing himself for wearing shorts. he bounced up and down on the balls of his feet, feeling excitement buzz through his veins. hoseok was seconds away from pulling out his phone and texting the younger; spamming his phone with pointless messages –– not that it would be an out of the ordinary thing to do at this point, it was practically a regular thing for the two friends by now.

"jimin's cute little ass better love me for standing out in the cold for nearly thirty minutes." hoseok grumbles under his breath, keeping his eyes trained on where the subway would eventually stop. he was more than ready to hug jimin tightly and then drag him back to their dorm; where they would then spend the rest of the day talking and eating unhealthy takeout (those boxes, too, would end up with the others, most likely). "jiminie jiminie jiminie."

twenty minutes later, at six forty five, a train was stopped in front of him with a wave of people rushing out of it. hoseok made his way through the oncoming crowd, ignoring the displeased grunts he received from people he accidentally bumped into. his eyes darted around each face he passed, recognizing none of them to be his small friend. his eyes lit up when he eventually saw the boy he was looking for walking off the train, seeming to struggle with the large suitcase behind him.

hoseok felt his heart stop; jimin had dyed his hair back to a soft hazelnut brown and had one of hoseok's sweaters he had stolen from the older on. he looked extremely cute and huggable with the way hoseok's sweater swallowed his tiny body and cheeks were puffy. from sleep or the fact jimin had gained a couple of pounds with the eight months they last saw each other, hoseok couldn't tell, but he fell even more in love anyways.

"jimin!" hoseok calls out loudly in hopes to catch the younger's attention, and luckily it works. the brunette looks up at the call of his name, his face brightening when he sees hoseok standing in the middle of where the large crowd had previously been. he beams and momentarily drops his things, sliding his bookbag onto the ground beside his suitcase before running towards hoseok with his arms wide open.

"hoseokie!" jimin cries, leaving hoseok no warning as he jumps into the older, encasing him into a tight hug. hoseok stumbles back but grips jimin's thighs as to not drop the younger and stables himself, burying his face into jimin's neck. "i missed you i missed you i missed you."

"i missed you too," hoseok says, letting jimin onto the ground gently. already, he misses how warm jimin feels pressed against him and follows the brunette over to where his bags were still sitting untouched.

––

"does anyone we know from highschool go here as well?" jimin asks, his hold on his bag tight. he can hear the soft hum of his suitcase rolling behind hoseok –– the older insisting to roll it instead of jimin. he looks around at the campus, wishing he had his camera to capture how pretty it was. considering it was late september, nearly october, the leaves were falling on the ground and decorated the cement with varying shades of red, orange and yellow.

"taehyung does, actually. i think kook and yoongi hyung are thinking about transferring here." hoseok mutters, trying to hide the bitter tone in voice, although failing. he glances at jimin before looking straight ahead. "he's apologized to me and all...but i still can't let go what he did."

"i'd see why," jimin answers. "i don't know, i kind of want to give him a chance."

"you really want to get back with him?" hoseok scoffs, making no attempt to hide the disapproval in his voice.

"no, i mean at friendship." jimin scoffs and a small smile makes its way to his lips as he nudges hoseok in the side, making him look at jimin long enough to catch the knowing glint and shy smile. "besides, i've got my eye on someone right now."
