hoseok frowned as he lays back on his bed, closing his eyes and letting a deep frown take over his lips. his heart felt so incredibly heavy in his chest and it hurt so badly; his heart did these little somersaults and flips and random fast-paced beats whenever jimin was just in sight. as good as that felt (with the barely noticeable, but definitely there, slight ache), it was replaced by an aching and heavy heart once jimin was away from him.

jimin entered the room with two glasses of water in hand, closing the door back with his foot. he steadily walked to hoseok's dresser, sitting them on top before looking at him. jimin frowned, sitting next to his friend on the bed and placing a hand on his thigh. jimin's voice was similar to silk as he tried, and succeeded, to get hoseok's attention. "hobi? are you okay?"

hoseok opened one eye and smiled lightly. it didn't reach his eyes like it had normally done and it went noticed by jimin. the blonde crosses his legs and stares at hoseok. hoseok places a hand on top of jimin's, feeling his skin heat up at the minimal contact. he takes a deep breath before talking. "i'm fine minnie, just feeling overwhelmed with feelings is all."

jimin's face seems to brighten at the statement, "feelings?" he gasps and smiles big. a small dimple was showing on his cheek and his eyes were similar to small little crescents―and there's those fucking butterflies swarming hoseok's stomach again. "you like someone? who?"

hoseok falls silent, not sure what he should say. jimin―who is freshly out of an unhealthy relationship and is now dealing with his ex's bullshit is hoseok's crush and he has no idea if he should tell him. hoseok knows there's only two ways this can go; hoseok confesses and either jimin returns the feelings or he'll softly turn hoseok down.

hoseok sits up and mirrors jimin's position. he looks at jimin, taking in each and every feature of jimin's face, from his puffy eyes and thick lips to the small blemishes and acne scars covering his skin. hoseok sighs. it's not like he has anything to lose, he figures, so why not?

"you." hoseok finally answers. his eyes stay trained on a loose thread on his jeans, refusing to meet jimin's. jimin's face is red and his eyes wide and lips parted, utter shock written on his face.

"m-me?" jimin stutters. he cups his warm cheeks, feeling his heart rate pickup. he lets out a sigh and hoseok has no idea what it means. "but why?"

"you're so cute and sweet and slightly witty and funny and just..." hoseok lists, "you're an incredibly beautiful and amazing person both inside and out."

"i..." jimin frowned, a lump suddenly forming in his throat. he feels bad―guilty, even. he feels so because he only sees hoseok as merely a friend, but he can't help that and he knows it. "i'm so sorry, hobi. i don't...i only see you as a friend. i hope i can develop feelings for you in the future. i really do."

hoseok grabs jimin by the shoulders and pulls him into his chest, hugging the smaller boy tightly. hoseok felt a weight lift off his shoulders; he felt like he could finally breathe. "i wasn't expecting you to like me back. and i'm sorry for telling you know after all of that shit with him and what's going on at school and all. forget i told you anything."

"i'm not just going to forget, hoseok." jimin answers, his words slightly muffled due to having his head buried in hoseok's chest. "don't apologize for telling me, i'm so happy you did. can we make sure this doesn't affect our friendship?"

hoseok laughed airily, tightening his grip on jimin's small waist. "of course, min. between you and i, we're still best bros and i didn't just confess i like you."

"say "bros" again and you're dead to me, jung hoseok."
