Scene 3
(Marlin looks at Nemo..as much as he doesn't want to tell him what happened to his mom..he feels it's the right time to)
Marlin: it was before all our eggs were going to hatch...
Nemo: you mean...I was going to have..brothers and sisters?
Marlin: (looks down) yes..you were
Nemo: what happened to them?
Marlin: well...the eggs were a few days from hatching..I had gotten a perfect anemone for me and your mother..and all the eggs..it was a great view..the whole open ocean..I wanted nothing but the best for everyone..but then I saw she was staring at something, and there was a barracuda...she was worried about the eggs, I told her they would be ok and to get in the anemone...then she swam down and I tried to protect her but the barracuda knocked me out..and when I woke up...she and all the eggs were gone..and I found you..the only egg that survived on the ocean floor...she wanted to name one of our children Nemo...so I named you after the name she always wanted
Nemo: a barracuda?
Marlin: yes..
Nemo: what..what would've happened if she didn't swim down?
Marlin: I don't know Nemo...
Nemo: (feels a little sad) I didn't think she died in such..
Marlin: a bad way? I didn't want it to be that way
Nemo: how come you never told me?
Marlin: do you feel sad?
Nemo: yeah..
Marlin: that's why..I didn't want you to feel this way
Nemo: but how come you never talked about her at all?
Marlin: it's just hard Nemo..if I talked about her you would have wondered where she was and I couldn't lie about it..so I just felt it was best not to mention her at all
Nemo: what was your mother like?
Marlin: (laughs a little) oh she was pretty overprotective...I was a little on the wild side back when I was a young fish
Nemo: you? No way
Marlin: yes way
(Just then dory and her friends come over)
Dory: hey is everything ok here?
Nemo: yeah..I was just..not a good day at school
Dory: oh I see...well would a game of tag with the turtles make you feel better?
Nemo: the turtles are here?!
Bailey: yeah they're coming by for a visit you should come!
Nemo: can I go dad? Please?
Marlin: (smiles) of course you can Nemo
Nemo: (lowers his voice) and..thanks for telling me..
Marlin: if there's anything else you want to know..just ask
Nemo: I will, are you gonna come?
Marlin: no I think I'll just stay here for awhile
Nemo: ok, see you later dad!
(Nemo swims off with the gang and Marlin decides to pay Mr ray a visit since he's mad about the whole assignment going on)
Marlin: Mr ray?
Mr ray: ah nemos dad..um Marlin right?
Marlin: correct
Mr ray: great to see you, is there something you need?
Marlin: well..yes you see Nemo told me about your assignment you have going on
Mr ray: (goes silent) well I can assure you, I had no idea about the situation and I suggested we cancel it but Nemo insisted on letting the other kids do it
Marlin: this is a very sensitive subject, you're just gonna leave him out?
Mr ray: I suggested that he could bring in someone else but he said he didn't want to
Marlin: well of course not! Someone else isn't his mother!
Mr ray: this assignment isn't in any way to hurt him
Marlin: I mean..don't you think it'll be hard for him to have to see all the fish with their moms? And don't suggest for him not to come to school, that's ridiculous
Mr ray: I really can't help...I can't just take one kid into consideration I have to do what's fair to all students
Marlin: well...you're a teacher isn't that your job? You don't know what he's been through, plus the kids are giving him a hard time about it from what he's told me
Mr ray: I can assure you that won't be happening again
Marlin: please don't make him have to sit through it, just cancel it
Nemo: (off in the distance) dad! What'd you doing?!
Marlin: I'm just talking to your teacher
Mr ray: Nemo, your dad was talking about the assignment..I apologize if it made you feel in any way-
Nemo: it didn't! I'm fine! Dad! I said I was fine!
Marlin: you're not fine! You just found out what happened-
Nemo: why are you bringing it up in front of my teacher! You're the worst (swims away)
Marlin: nemo!
Dory: Nemo just swam off, is everything ok?
Marlin: no dory everything is not ok! Mr ray here is-
Mr ray: hey listen...let's just...take a second to breathe...Nemo has made the choice to not do the assignment and that's fine..if he wants to come the day we present that's fine too...you really should let him decide..talk to him first..but I will make sure no one will bother him about it
Marlin: (sighs) ok..ok...thanks Mr ray
Mr ray: you're very welcome (swims off)
Dory: what happened?
Marlin: just...it's nothing (starts to swim away)
Dory: you both swim away
Marlin: huh?
Dory: you and cheeko swim away when you want to avoid something, I may not have the best memory but I can pick up on habits like that, what are you trying to avoid?
Marlin: Dory-
Dory: you're trying to avoid me?!
Marlin: what? No! Not at all!
Dory: but you said dory..at least I think you did...
Marlin: you didn't let me finish...it's just... I don't know if you've noticed but..Nemo doesn't have a mom
Dory: what?! Is she lost like I was?! Wait was I lost? Oh yeah! I found my parents! We can just find her!
Marlin: no dory..its not like that
Dory: so you know where she is? I never see her
Marlin: because she died...(sighs) a barracuda...killed her
Dory: oh...I'm so sorry...I had no idea
Marlin: it's ok..I don't really talk about her so how could you have known?
Dory: is that why harpo-
Marlin: Nemo..and yes...I only told him today
Dory: why only today?
Marlin: to protect him...
Dory: well you can't protect him from everything, my own parents couldn't protect me from the undertow
Marlin: (chuckles) you know dory..you've always been good to Nemo..thank you for that
Dory: (smiles) don't mention it, I'm always looking out for Fabio
Marlin: you get it right a couple of times and then forget (laughs)

Dory still has the memory loss! Haha! But it's getting better! And Marlin finally told Nemo the truth! I think in "Finding Nemo" he never told him about her so I thought I'd put that to play in here!
