#9: After A Year

Viceroy's Palace

Saphira walked heading to the Control System Room and saw Guilford and the new Viceroy. "Princess", Guilford bowed but the viceroy Carales did not. "I wouldnt bow to someone who gained named because of favor", Carales looked down on her. "I came here to speak to Commander Guilford", Saphira said. They went outside the room. "Your Highness, you called me", Guilford placed his hand on his chest. "Commander, I want to sympathize with what happened to Princess Cornellia. I know she is still alive. I also ordered Suzaku to look for traces of her", Saphira informed. "Your Highness, why do you want to talk with me?", Guilford asked. "About Viceroy Carales, I've been tracking his works. I see he's having so much budget. Also, he's killed so many civilian when he was establishing Shinjuku Ghetto into a Tokyo Settlement", Saphira showed details through a monitor. "Princess, even I, cannot do something about this. I don't want to step in but you cannot do anything either. You aren't assigned here but you are seen as a mere tourist", Guilford said with politeness. "Thank You Guilford, I didn't chose the wrong person to say this. Guilford, I get the feeling that he will die sooner or later. Be the one to be in charge after wards", Saphira's face changed expression. It was serious and confident about what she said.

Ashford Academy- Month Later

Villeta is running to catch Lelouch since he's planning to escape his lessons again. She was outran and Rolo with Lelouch went into their route. They were headed to the gamble station.

Shirley met Saphira on the corridor. "Geez, Lelouch is always causing commotion", Shirley complained. "Its just good that someone cares for him like you", Saphira teased. Shirley pushed slightly. Both ladies laughed. "Nunally would always wish to hear laughters", Saphira suddenly said. "Nunally?", Shirley tilted her head. Right, it wasnt just Lelouch's memory that was twisted but also everyone in the Academy.

"You've been absent again these days. Are you sick?", Shirley asked. "No, I'm just researching about some things. I also want to be scouted like Nina", Saphira answered. "I wonder how Nina is. She's been totally devastated during the Black Rebellion. Plus, she was deeply moved by Princess Euphemia that cause her to really push this through", Shirley sighed. Saphira felt a pinch in her heart when she heard that name. "Shirley, you are thinking too much. You'll get wrinkles in an early age. Plus, Lelouch might chose other girls", Saphira teased.

Underground Ashford
O.S.I investigation

Villeta entered the room and saw Saphira seated on the couch. "Your highness, you are not allowed to be here", Villeta bowed. "Villeta. Uhmm. Teacher, how is the investigation on Lelouch?", Saphira asked. "He's still clueless. Our mission is not to catch him, we are on the search for C.c", Villeta informed. "That's why you can never harm Lelouch no matter what happens", Saphira stood up. "It is an order", Saphira looked at Villeta in the eye. "Do you despise the Black Order, your Highness?", Villeta asked. "Why would you ask that?", Saphira asked back. "They were the reason why Princess Euphemia died", Villeta reminded. "Zero killed Euphy and not the Black Knights. The reason why Euphy died was because she was fighting for something she believes in. Teacher, do your best", Saphira smiled and left the room.

The Next Day
News spread out about the death of Viceroy Carales and also the revival of Black Knights. Zero also appeared in the event . Guilford was placed into charge.

G-1 at Britannian Prison

Todou, Ohgi, and the rest are to be held in execution. Saphira, as the only Royalty, was also there to give permission. "I dont want to do this", Saphira tried to leave the room but the troop of Guilford is gathered around. "This is a chance to see if it is the real Zero, Your Highness. We will kill him again", Guilford said in bitterness as she looks at Cornelia's picture. Saphira sighed and sat down in front of the Monitor. "Warn this to Zero and the Black Knights. If he does not appear tomorrow....", Saphira breathed deeply. "They will be executed", a voice with seriousness continued it. Saphira gulped and was prepared to escape. "Knights of Seven, Kururugi Suzaku?", Guilford turned to face him. "How would we know if this is the real Zero?", Suzaku asked. "Only the real Zero could pull up a miracle", Guilford answer. "A miracle?", Suzaku had a short laugh. He spread his left arm to block Saphira's escape route. "May you excuse me and the Princess", Suzaku held her in the arm. "That's a disrespectful attitude towards the princess", one of the guard noticed. "I have a permission from his father. I am more afraid of the leader of the Round Table than the Court", Suzaku looked at him. His eyes were cold as dead fish's. He's got bloodshot eyes which he accumulated from all the nights he was in the battlefield. 

Suzaku led Saphira at one room for the commander of the G-1. Saphira withdrawn her hand back. "Sorry. Did that hurt you?", Suzaku asked. "Dont mind. Why are you here?", Saphira asked. "Sorry if I disrupted your fun. We took care of the rebellions and the Emperor asked us to come back. Plus, there could be a possibility that Lelouch's memory came back", Suzaku answered. "Whatever Suzaku. I can always hide from you", Saphira stuck her tongue out. " I wasn't called as the Knight of Seven with no reason. I am a man who knows where rats are hiding", Suzaku said with his back facing Saphira. The girl cannot see what kind of face he is making.  "We always spend times arguing", Saphira smiled and reached out to Suzaku's head but he withdrawn her hand when Euphemia flashed in her mind. "Who will be the next Viceroy?", Saphira asked. "Nunally", Suzaku answered. Saphira's eyes widened. "Go take a rest", Saphira ordered. "Yes, your highness", Suzaku bowed but Saphira's stomach growled. "I just came from school when Guilford dragged me to take charge", Saphira explained. Suzaku laughed. "Wait here. I'll prepare your food", Suzaku said. "You are going to prepare my food", Saphira ordered. Suzaku gave her a last glance before leaving the room.

The Next Day At Ashford Academy

"We have here with us again, Knight of Seven, Kururugi Suzaku", Villeta announced at the classroom. "Suzaku!!! You're back", Rivalz shouted. Suzaku walked towards Lelouch. "Long time no see, Suzaku", Lelouch smiled. "Good to be back here again", Suzaku looked at Lelouch who is sitting down. The door opened. "Suzaku!!! You're back", Milly exclaimed. "President, we're in the middle of the class", Lelouch sighed.

During the break, everyone had a picnic at the garden. Suzaku, I didnt expect you to return at once . You were the one who sold me to my father.

"You really suck at using chopsticks, dont you?", Shirley noticed Saphira. "Plus, you're eating noodles for break. You cannot use your hands", Rivalz laughed. Suzaku got the lunchbox and twisted the noodles on the stick. He raised it up to Saphira's mouth. "Woah!!! You guys never fail to make my heart skip", Milly commented. Saphira looked at Lelouch. "Why dont you feed it to Lelouch?", Saphira asked then got the sandwiches from Lelouch's box. "They were prepared by Rolo", Milly informed. "Its okay", Rolo waved his hands. Lelouch handed a fork. "I have some fork here", Lelouch handed it to her. "Why cant you be so decisive like Lelouch? Suzaku?", Saphira pouted. Suzaku just laughed but at the back of his mind, he was thinking that it was the gease that affected her.

Suzaku, Rolo, Saphira and Villeta went down the investigation room. "I could have tasted Rolo's sandwiches", Saphira pouted. "Saphira, I told you before didnt I? Some actions of your could be because of the gease", Suzaku reminded. "Suzaku... you've been so cold these days. Is it the atmosphere? Or is it the memories. Is coming back here in this area makes you throw up? I can order you to leave", Saphira asked. "This place is somewhere that Euphy asked me to protect as well", Suzaku looked at her. "Sorry for my actions. I deserve punishment", Suzaku bowed. "Okay then", Saphira answered. Rolo and Villeta widened their eyes. Suzaku also raised his head. Saphira chuckled. "Are you actually expecting me to punish a Knight of Rounds? The Emperor will demote me if that's the case", Saphira sat at the couch. The meeting continued.
