#28: Moving Forward

After a Month

The Black Knights were to be executed at the parade of Lelouch. Cornelia and the rest are in the hiding waiting for an opportunity to rescue them but the army is so tight. Lelouch is now hated by everyone.

Grave Yard

Saphira sat down in front of Suzaku with the cat beside her. "Suzaku, why? Why did you leave so early?", Saphira hugged his grave stone. Glen stood behind her. "Saphira. We have to leave now. Lelouch's army is looking for us", Glen informed. "Fine! Let me face Lelouch so I will have to ask him why things happened!!!", Saphira walked towards the exit. Glen ran towards her and gave her a tight hug. "Let me tell why", Glen started to discuss Zero Requim. Saphira cried in regret knowing that it was all for good. "Where is Lelouch now?", Saphira asked. "If I let you go now, would I expect that you would return to me again?", Glen asked. Saphira gave the compass to Glen. "You can always find me with this just as how Suzaku did", Saphira ran away holding on her necklace.

Parade
Saphira was able to reached the parade and saw Kallen and the others. The military spotted her and caught her. They presented her to Lelouch. "Do have a death wish as well?", Lelouch asked. "I know what you did. Father told me", Saphira clenched her fist. "Everyone, Lelouch is not the enemy", Saphira looked at the crowd but they retaliated. The noise was silenced when a Zero is standing at the edge of the road. He ran towards Zero and Lelouch. Lelouch pushed Saphira away and she fell where Nunnally is located. Zero stabbed the sword on Lelouch's stomached. Lelouch also fell. "Brother", Nunnally called out. Saphira held Nunnally's hand and also got Lelouch's. She used her ability to show Nunnally what really happened. Everything was for the greater effect. Nunnally cried her heart out . Now that Suzaku is gone and so with Lelouch.

"Zero ! Zero! Zero!", the people cheered.

After 4 months
New Viceroy's Palace

"Saphira, what do you plan on doing now?", Glen asked as he wears the Emperor's coat. "Dad. Suzaku never said he wanted Japan to be liberated. We cannot leave them like this, right?", Saphira smiled. "Make them independent by appointing Ohgi to be the Viceroy. Until they can stand on their feet, we're going to give them real independence", Saphira smiled and gave Glen a hug. "After which...".

Kallen's POV

This time. I have to repeat a year which makes me in the same year level as Gino. I also bought a house where me and Mom can freely live. Lelouch, the world became more peaceful now. I kept pictures of us as well on my room. There were so many happy moments and also sad ones. No matter how painful things were,  I will never forget what you did for us. I got my bread and bid goodbye to Mom.

I ran towards the street and saw Villeta buying watermelon. She's pregnant, you see. Also, the rest of the Black Knights are having regular work now. Thanks to Nunnally and Saphira, Ohgi became the Viceroy. If you were alive, you would appreciate this.

Ashford Academy.

Kallen entered the room and saw Gino bothering a new student. Her hair was color blue and she's wearing eyeglasses. She didnt mind it and just sat on her seat. "Good morning, Kallen", the girl turned to face her. Kallen choked to realize it was Saphira. "What are you doing here?!", Kallen asked. "Isnt this good? We are people who got our childhood and teenage life stolen. We have to make the best out of it", Saphira stood up and walked towards Kallen. "How about the Emperor?", Kallen asked. "Well, he challenged me into a Knightmare battle and he lost. I guess he's getting old after all", Saphira answered. "No way", Kallen laughed. "That's true", Gino also followed after them. "Where is anya?", Kallen asked. "Jeremiah is living with her at the motherland", Gino informed.

Afterclass, Saphira went to play with the cat. Gino and Kallen are watching her. Rivalz also joined Saphira. "I didnt know Rivalz would volunteer as the President", Kallen chuckled. Nina watched with them from the window. She smiled at the thought that Saphira saved her even after trying to kill Suzaku. "What's your plan now? Its not that you can make your being knight as an excuse to always be with her", Kallen asked. "I will be waiting, Kallen. I will wait for her to recover", Gino smiled and flicked Kallen's forehead. "Dont underestimate a guy's love", Gino boasted. "Dont underestimate us as well", Kallen let her tongue out.

Saphira's POV

It's the 1st death anniversary of Suzaku and just a month would be Lelouch. They're grave stone are placed next to each other. I came alone bringing iris and also a bottle of wine. I also bought the thousand cranes I did for the whole year.

Suzaku, you're so cruel of leaving me alone even after saying those three words.

Lelouch, you died such a lonely death. I wish I could have asked for forgiveness.

But.

I wont ask for forgiveness, we're friends after all.

"Saphira", Gino called Saphira
out. "I'll be there", Saphira wiped her tears and walked towards Gino. She hugged the tall guy. "Gino, my heart is still shattered. Can you help me get its pieces back together?", Saphira asked. "Are you proposing to me?", Gino laughed. "No way, Gino", Saphira pinched his nose. "Let's go and prepare. It's the Viceroy's wedding tomorrow", Gino informed. "Gino, can you carry me behind your back?", Saphira asked. "Yes. But why?", Gino asked. "Someone in past usually do this to me", Saphira remembered Suzaku. "You're old enough but okay", Gino offered his back.

Kururugi Suzaku's POV

As expected, Saphira will still come here. I held my mask and remembered the promise I gave to Lelouch before he dies. I will die along with him. This mask bears a heavy burden. Saphira, you're too old to have Gino carrying you. I wish I could have done it like the usual days. Forgive me Gino. If I didnt confess to Saphira that day, you could have easily comforted her and make her yours. Even if I wanted to hold her hand right now... I have a duty to fulfill. This is my punishment but even so, seeing you live a normal life can keep me going. Sorry, for dying ahead of you.  You and Gino disappeared from my sight. Now I can have my moment with myself and Lelouch. Arthur, the cat, went near me and licked my hand. "Did you miss me that much?",I carried him.

Saphira's hair returned to its original color. She wore a long white dress and also have blue linings. Gino knocked on her door to deliever her sandals. He was astonished to see her. "You really dont fail to surprise me", Gino chuckled. "Be sure to escort me well. I dont like wearing heels after all", Saphira sighed. "If Suzaku is alive, he could have proposed to you as soon as possible", Gino teased and stopped talking when he realized what he said. "I also wished he was", Saphira patted Gino's shoulder and wore the sandals. "So bad I wont be your escort. I'll be Kallen's for today", Gino informed. Saphira smiled. "I see. Good luck then, Gino", Saphira slapped his back harder. "Your escort is here", Nunnally knocked and presented the new Zero. Gino hid Saphira behind him. "Sorry, it's just a habit of mine", Gino apologized. "Its okay... then lets go", Nunnally invited the two. Rivalz and Milly were the Mc's of the wedding. Nina is in charge of the special effects as to light up the wedding. Cornelia and Guilford also attended the wedding. The Black Knights and the Britanian army are all goody good friends.

Saphira and Zero stands at the edge of the line before presenting the bride. Saphira gulped knowing that she cannot casually grip on Zero's arm since he's a complete stranger. She's not also good in walking on heels. It was their turn to walk. Saphira stepped and lost her balance. Zero/Suzaku caught her. "You can trust him, Saphira", Nunnally looked behind. This smell. "Thank you", Saphira fixed herself and cling unto Zero's arm. This arms. Saphira looked at Zero's mask. Suzaku gulped looking at how Saphira's face matured in the click of a year. Inside his mask, he was smiling. Even a murderer like him can hold the girl that he loves. Suzaku held her hand as they marched on the aisle.

"Zero. You know what, Euphy gave me her plans for the future", Saphira opened. Suzaku bit his lips. "And also wanted me to achieve it if ever she wouldn't be able to", Saphira pouted.

"She wishes to get married with Suzaku".
