Nothing in particular happened the morning after Martha's sleepover, except that they woke up at almost noon. After they did, they ate breakfast, watched "The Princess Bride", then went home. For Y/N, she didn't know when to go to Jared's house; all he told her was to not be late. Be late for what? So, walking through her front door, she texted him.
"Hey when should I come over?"
"Hey, Y/N."
She looked up from her phone, and saw her father, actually cooking. Her lips formed into a smile. "Hello, sir."
"How was the big sleepover?" He said, putting the frying pan down, and walking over to her.
"It was fun! We talked, and-." For some weird reason, she stopped herself. "Yeah, we pretty much talked."
He nodded. "Well, talking is always okay." Before hw could ask anything else, a small 'Ding!' came from Y/N's pocket.
She froze up at random, then pulled her phone out, and checked.
Y/N's Cool Boyfriend: Maybe around 3 or something? My mom's going to see her friend about wind chimes, I guess? Yeah, come around that time.
"Sooooooo, around 3?"
Y/N's Cool Boyfriend: Yes Florence, around 3.
She chuckled at the nickname he still refuses to stop calling her. The father noticed, and his smile fell. "Who are you talking to?"
She looked up. "Oh, it's my friend."
"Which one?"
"Oh, his name's Jared." Y/N said, growing slightly more wary.
He nodded. "Really? How long have you know him, I don't think I heard you talk about this Jared kid before."
She shrugged. "Oh well, I met him on Monday. He's really funny, and nice, and- Yeah." She stood on the balls of her feet nervously.
He nodded again. "Alright then, if he's good to you, I don't see any problem then."
Y/N felt her face turn slightly red. "Dad!"
He laughed, and shook his head, going back into the kitchen.
"Hey actually," she called, quickly changing the name Millie put in her phone. "he asked me and another friend to hang out this afternoon. Do you think I can go?"
"Did you get your homework done?" He called back.
"Yes,"
"What about piano?"
"Practiced for half an hour yesterday before going to Martha's."
"Okay then, where was he thinking of going?"
That's where she paused, and shut her eyes tight before responding. "His house."
Y/N heard the moving in the kitchen stop, and her father's heavy footsteps coming closer. "Is that so?"
"Yes," she nodded. "Really father, it'll probably only be for a few hours, and his house is only a few blocks away, and-."
"I don't care how far away his house is, I don't know this kid, and you don't know him that much."
She shrugged. "Well yeah, but-."
"Who's the other friend?"
"Uhm, Evan, sir." She looked at the floor, and became small.
He sighed. "Before dark, that's all I'm giving you, it's a school night."
Y/N's face lit up, and she embraced her father. "Thank you so much, sir!" He chuckled, and gave her a small hug back.
