"Fuckin' traffic!" Chloe says as she slams on the brake pedal again.
"Patience is a virtue." I say.
"Yeah well, fuck the virtues, ok? I'm tired of being in this truck, as much as I love it. You know, I lost my virginity right here-"
"Gross Chloe!" I say interrupting her. If this is Chloe's topic of conversation for the trip up to Seattle, then it's going to be a long, and silent, drive.
"The more you know about a person, right?" She jokes. "Wanna know who I was with?"
"Not particu-"
"Actually, I don't remember. Fuck, who was it? Anyways, it was a nice, hot July day, mid July I think. We were sweaty, dirty, horny teens, so you had to have seen it coming, if you were there, which you weren't, by the way."
"Thanks for reminding me that I left, I almost didn't remember."
"We were at a concert, the band was good, the weed was ok, and the beer was great. The people, not so much. There were a bunch of assholes there, and they were being assholes to me. Then, this cute dude shows up, scares them away, by beating the shit out of them, and we watched the rest of the concert. Me, being a horny-drunk-high teenager, wanted some action, so, one thing lead to another, and, well, it was great."
"Sounds great Chloe."
"What was it like for you?" She looks at me and smiles.
"Yeah, it was great too." I say. She just stares at me.
"You haven't done it, have you?" She asks like a detective.
"...No, I haven't. But it's not a big deal...Is it?"
"I don't hate you for not ever doing it, but it's something you shouldn't pass up. You're missing out, Caulfield."
"I'm sure sweaty concert sex is so great."
"Oh, but that's when it's the best. The other times just aren't as fun, trust me." Gross, I'm learning about Chloe Price's sex life.
"Thanks, for this whole talk." I sarcastically respond.
"Any time." She starts to pay attention to the road some more as the car in front of us starts to move. "You recognize any of this?"
"No. Are we even in Washington?" She opens the glove compartment and hands me a map.
"Here. Check the map, that should answer your question. I unfold it and try to find where we are.
"Umm, where are we right now?"
"Beats me." She looks over at me. "But we'll make it. Probably."
...............
"There it is, right there." I point to a white house with a dark grey roof. She turns into the driveway, right behind a blue truck. That must be dad's new truck. He always talked about getting one. She turns the truck off and looks at me."Do I smell like weed? Cigarettes?"
"And beer too. Just a little bit of everything."
"I can't tell if you're joking..." She says.
"A little, but we haven't showered in a while, and hopefully they understand that." I would hope they do. I don't know if they'll get past Chloe's faint weed smell. I've gotten pretty used to it. It just seems like a part of her. We get out and walk up to the door. It feels the same, but then again I haven't been gone that long. I reach out and knock on the door. The door opens seconds after and mom appears from behind it. She reaches out and hugs me.
