Baby Bear (Leo and Kate fanfic)

Baby bump

The press and fans just thought it was another ho-hum celebrity pregnancy. When the magazines and websites announced formally that Kate and "her third husband Ned Rocknroll" were expecting a baby, people just thought "Meh that's nice..." and continued on. They had no idea what the truth was. And that was that one of the beloved and popular movie couples of all time, Jack and Rose, aka Leo and Kate, Kleo, had in fact made a baby. Kate and Leo almost got some sort of weird sense of satisfaction for throwing the paparazzi off their trail, even though there were hints in plain sight. Like when Kate bared her painted baby bump, featuring a picture of the earth, transforming her belly into sort of a half globe. It was reported as being for an Earth Day pictoral spread for book but her and Leo knew it was her silent nod to him and his passionate concern for the environment and a planet affected by global warming. It was their silent communication to each other in such a subtle, beautiful way that they had hope for the future, that their child would be part of a new generation that would do all it could to save the planet.

They only told their immediate families. Of course Leo's parents, George and Irmelin plus Leo's stepmother Peggy were thrilled to finally be having a grandbaby, even though they already thought of Mia and Joe as their "bonus grandchildren." And Leo, like his dad, was nervous then overjoyed that day in mid-June when he and Kate went for her ultrasound appointment and they found out they were having a boy. Leo plunged himself into reading all kinds of baby books and websites about babies because he was a bit late to the game, but none the less thrilled to be in it. They selected a cute jungle animal theme for the nursery decoration at both Kate's country home in Sussex and at Leo's apartment in New York. The had a small but fun baby shower, where Kate was amazed at the even more gaudy and fancy toys and clothes and blankets and adorable onesies that had come around in the 10 years since Joe was born. Leo grumbled at the stupidly over complex car seats he had to install in both their vehicles. But he was reminded it was all worth it when he would lay his head against Kate's expanding belly and feel their son moving, giving playful kicks that made Leo smile wider than Kate had ever seen him smile before. Kate stayed busy but reminded herself to take it easy as she filmed "Divergent." And they settled on a name for their little man: Bear Blaze. Bear because it was unique, strong and just plain cool. Blaze because of the fire at Necker Island that had ultimately bonded them together forever. They decided he would take Kate's last name publicly, but on his birth certificate and in the legal sense his last name would be DiCaprio. It made it all the easier because Leo and Kate figured correctly that nobody would actually embarrass a child with the last name of Rocknroll.

Leo worked with his publicist closely to make sure not to schedule too many interviews and press junkets for "The Wolf of Wall Street" the first two weeks of December, when Kate was due.
