Runaway Love

Chapter 5

I woke up, again, in the hospital. All I heard was beep, beep, beep. My dad was in the room and so was Hailey. I looked to my right side and saw Rebecca. What was she doing here? But, there's someone missing: MOM.

I opened my mouth to speak, but sobs just came out. Once I stopped crying and calmed down, I looked at my dad.

"Where's mom?", I asked. My dad hesitated, his eyes full of tears. I looked over at Hailey, who was also crying. What happened to mom?

"Dad, what happened to mom?", I asked, more demandingly. He finally calmed down and answered.

"When your car spun out of control, while you were crying, you also hit a car. That car had mom inside, carrying groceries from the store to come home. Unfortunately, your mom died from impact from the accident.", he replied.

"I KILLED MOM?!", I screamed. This can't be happening.

"Honey, no.", he replied.

"NO. NO. WHY? WHY DID HAVE TO BE MOM?!", I was screaming and crying at the sametime.

Hailey came over and gave me tissues and a hug. Dad did the same. Rebecca was looking at me, very sadly.

"Lily, I'm really sorry. I didn't know he was dating the both of us at the same time. I'm devastated by this too. I hope you will be okay soon, though. Maybe we can try and be friends?", Rebecca asked.

"It's okay. Yeah, we can try that soon.", I replied. I had nothing else to say. I asked them to leave the room and let me have some alone time.

In the time being, I prayed to God. I asked him why so many misfortunes and why did all this happen. Then, I prayed to Mom. I said aloud:

Dearest Mom,

This is all my fault. It really is. I'm sorry that I killed you. It should be me who's dead. I know you're in a better place now, but don't forget anyone. I will come and meet you there soon, I promise. I promise I'll get into a good college, take care of Dad and Hailey, get a job, get married and do all the things you wanted me to do. I love yo, mom, and I'll never forget you.

Then, the doctor came in.

"My name is Doctor Anderson. I will be taking care of you, Lily.", she said.

"Thank you. Now what exactly happened to my body after the crash?", I asked.

"Well, your head hit the wheel, which cause you to become unconscious. While that was happening, you also broke your ribs, which I can fix in no time with surgery."

"Wow."

"I know, but don't worry. I'll be conducting the surgery and making sure you're okay during and after the surgery. Your surgery is scheduled for March 24th. So, get rest and relax."

"Thank you, Dr. Anderson."

"You're very welcome. If you need anything, call me or one of the nurses and we will be happy to assist you."

"Okay."

Well, she just cheered up my mood.

March 24th

I woke up early for my surgery. Dad and Hailey said that they are going to be here for every second of it.

They put the vaccination in me to make me unconsious. That's all I remember. I woke up to no one in my room. Just that beeping sound again.
