Woken up in a shock by my alarm I sprung up in bed.
What made me even more jumpy was seeing a body sleeping next to me.
It took me a few seconds for it to register that yes, I would be sleeping next to this person everyday for the rest of my life so I better get use to it.
I scrambled out of bed, switched off my alarm and looked at the time. I groaned inwardly. Fayaaz's sister would be here any minute now to collect my wedding dress and drop off our bags.
Out of all the people in both our families, Faseeha was the only one who volunteered to drag her self out of bed on a Sunday morning to take my wedding dress away and give us our luggage, so that we could finally go to India!
Faseeha was Fayaaz's twin sister, but their personalities were worlds apart!
In the short time that I knew her, I realised that where Fayaaz was confident, boisterous and chasing after success, Faseeha was more humble and looking for happiness.
She was the most down to earth person I had ever met.
After I accepted the proposal, she would always phone me and ask to meet up to get to know each other. It made me feel less nervous about fitting in with my in-laws.
We met Faseeha downstairs 10 minutes later. 'You guys all ready to go?' I smiled at my sister-in-law.
'Yes, Fassy thanks so much for doing this.'
'Oh no problem! You're family now.' She hugged Fayaaz, she hugged me, then took my wedding dress that was zipped up into a white bag and set off towards her car. 'You two enjoy your selves. And don't forget to take pictures!' She waved then got into her car and drove off.
What now...
As if he had heard my thoughts, Fayaaz turned to smile at me then ushered the hotel chauffeur to bring the car up as we were ready to head to the airport! 'So... I've been um, wanting to ask you...'
I looked up at him. 'Yeah...'
'Why India?'
My face fell.
Of course everyone hadn't understood my reasoning for India as a honey moon destination, but when Fayaaz booked the tickets a few weeks back, I had assumed he wanted to go no questions asked.
If he didn't and if he was questioning the destination, why didn't he say anything before hand?
I didn't want to be the kind of wife that forced things on her husband!
'Um... Well don't you want to go? When you didn't object to India I assumed you didn't have a problem...'
'Attiya, I'm asking so I can understand you better.' He smiled at me. 'I don't have a problem with India, but I wont lie... It isn't my dream honeymoon destination either.'
I flushed. God!
Way to go Atti!
Day one of your marriage and you're already not taking your husband's feelings into consideration.
I breathed in and out and calmed my self down. A sleek black car pulled up and the chauffeur opened the door for me. I got in and relaxed into the comfy seats with Fayaaz on my left.
'I'm sorry.'
His ears perked up. 'Sorry?'
'Yeah. For not double checking with you for the honey moon thing. It's just... Theres a reason I chose India.'
