(A/n: hey guys! So if you haven't read the first book, please read it otherwise this book won't make any sense. Thanks!)
"Aubrey, you're going and that's final."
"But-"
"No buts, agent. It's mandatory."
"Fine." I stomped out of Commander's office, feeling both enraged and defeated. A dance. What kind of agency holds a dance?!
Now that I'm 17, Commander thinks I need to get more "serious" with my missions. This dance is specifically for people needing a body guard, and for the agents who are willing to be guards. Commander suggested I try his area of the field to experience a more professional position. Supposedly this dance will function as a way for people to become acquainted with our agents in order to find an individual they feel comfortable with.
I guess it makes sense. Wouldn't you rather know the person who will be guarding you 24/7 than have a total stranger? Well I guess it depends on who you are... You must be a really creepy person if you'd rather not meet them... But I won't judge.
I walked back to my cubicle to gather my things. It was the end of my shift, and I was ready to go home. I'm going to have to tell my mom about the dance. She's gonna freak. Greeeaaaat.
I grabbed my bag and walked towards the doors. "Hey! Aubrey! Wait up!" Dang it."Hey! Aubrey! Slow down for a sec!" No, I will not slow down for a sec. Get away. Before I knew it, he was walking right next to me. "Hey!" He said, with that goofy smile of his.
"Hi." I said, barely looking at him.
"Are you going to the dance tonight?" He asked.
"It's mandatory." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Oh, well I'm going too." He said. I could see him smiling out of the corner of my eye. I didn't reply and walked through the doors. "So, I guess I'll see ya there?" I heard him shout after me.
"Maybe." I said, without turning around. That was Marcus. He was a new agent and he had a major crush on me. Talk about annoying.
I finally reached my motorcycle. I threw on my helmet and felt the familiar rubber of my handle bars against my palms. My bike feels like it's the one thing that hasn't changed since... the incident. That's what I've decided to call it.
After everything went down, my brother went off to the military and he's now a marine. I last saw him right before he was deployed, and believe me when I say I miss him like crazy.
My dad gets home from work a lot earlier now. He talked to his boss and he felt bad for my family, so now he comes home in time for dinner. He used to not be home until late, and I kind of miss that. Now, he's paranoid and all he talks about is installing "new security systems" all over the house.
Last but not least, my mother. Before, she gave me my personal space. She wouldn't get into my business unless I invited her into my business. Now whenever I get home, she asks me LOADS of questions. How was work? Did you go on any missions? Who did you meet? How are your co-workers? It drives me NUTS!
Dang. Traffic jam.I tried to boost myself up on my leather seat, but all I could see were cars, cars, and more cars. Oh brother....
I revved my engine and swerved from lane to lane. It took forever, but I finally got to where the problem was. A car was flipped into the ditch.
There were all kinds of sirens, and police officers and firefighters surrounded the area. Why don't they just resume traffic and tow the car?
