It was dark. Really dark. No one was around, I think. I couldn't see, so I couldn't be sure.
"Aubrey?" Okay, I guess I was wrong. I then realized my eyes were closed. Gosh I'm an idiot. I slowly opened them, to see I was in a room full of people. Some were dressed in weird, blue clothes, and others were dressed normally. I was laying in some weird bed, with many weird machines connected to me. Let's just say this situation was very weird.
"Oh my goodness honey! I'm so glad you're okay!" One woman said, as she burst into tears. A man comforted her, as he smiled at me.
"Welcome back." He said.
"Hey kiddo." Another man said, sitting on my bed. "How ya feeling?"
"Good." I responded. "But where am I?"
"You're in a hospital." He told me. "You were in an... Accident."
"Oh." I said, softly.
"But you're going to be just fine." He said, patting my leg. I nodded, but wasn't quite understanding what was going on.
"Can you follow this light with your eyes, please?" A woman in blue clothes said. I nodded, and did as I was told. "Great. Thank you." She said, slipping the light into her white coat.
"Any pain?" A man in blue clothes asked me.
"No." I said, shrugging.
"Good. That is a very good sign." He said, smiling.
"Now we must discuss with you a few complications with the surgery." The woman in blue clothes told the man and woman who had first spoken to me. She led them outside of my room, and the other people in blue clothes followed her. I was left with the one man sitting on my bed.
"See? I told you it'd be fine." He said.
"You did?" I asked, confused. He nodded, but looked a little nervous.
"Yeah. Don't you remember?" He asked. I shook my head. "Oh." He looked even more nervous. "Well do you remember what happened?" I shook my head again.
"I don't remember anything about how I got here." I said, looking around.
"Do you remember Mason?" He asked, hesitantly.
"Mason?" I said, confused. His eyes got wide.
"Your client. Mason." He told me.
"I have clients?" I said.
"Yes..." He said. "Do you know who Commander Ross is?" I shook my head.
"No... Who's he?" I asked. The man got even more nervous.
"What's my name?" He asked. I thought for a moment.
"Have we ever met?" I asked him. He grabbed my shoulders and scared me with his loud voice.
"Aubrey, enough is enough." He said, loudly. "I'm your brother. You know that."
"I- I'm sorry. I just don't remember." I told him. He released me and ran out into the hallway. The people came flooding back in.
"Aubrey? Sweetie? You remember me, right?" The woman who cried before asked.
"Uh..." I said.
"What about me?" The man who had comforted her asked.
"Um..." I said.
"What's my name, Aubrey?" The man who sat on my bed asked.
"I'm sorry! I don't know, okay?" I said. The room got eerily quiet.
"Where have I been?" The man asked.
"I don't know-"
"No. Think." He instructed. I searched my brain for any signs of who this man was, but found none.
"I'm sorry." I said, quietly. The woman began to softly cry again, and the man wrapped his arms around her. The other man ran a nervous hand through his hair.
"This is a common side effect of brain surgery." The woman in blue clothes said. "She can recover from this and regain her memory. It could be weeks, it could be months. There's no telling the time limit."
"Aubrey, please try to remember. Promise me you'll try." The woman crying said. I nodded.
"Just one quick question. Who's Aubrey?"THE END.
