Chapter 16

Emma's POV

"Guess who passed her exam?! This girl! With an 82!"

"Good job Emma, what was the subject?"

"Professional Communication?"

"Now please tell me the answer to this question, ' The assertive response technique of calmly repeating your decision is often referred to as what?"

"Heck if I know, I used my cheat method, duh."

"Come on Emma it's the broken record, and I got an 83!"

"Oh shut up Claire."

We both laugh and head into the living room, we all relax onto the couch - well Claire and I did. Elena was too busy working on paper work for the NICU, Claire turns on the tv and puts on Grey's Anatomy.

We both get on our phones and listen to the tv in the background, scrolling through Instagram, I realize after seeing all the fall and costumes that were flooding my feed that it was October.

"Guys it's October..."

Both the girls look up at me, then outside I follow they're gaze and watch the orange, green, and yellow leaves falling off of our trees in the back yard.

"Shit, it can't be last time I checked it was September." Elena states

"Yeah like two weeks ago, come on guys I've been talking about decorating the house for weeks."

"Claire, when did you mention that?"

"Like two weeks ago, I said we need to decorate the house and have a Halloween party. Come on, plus Elena can pass out candy to the little kids at the front door while we have a party and let the guest in at the back yard. I thought this all out."

Elena and I nod heads before looking at Claire, "I say we need to go shopping. Call the boys?"

"I'll call Luke."

"I'll call Carter."

"I'll call Brent."

"Wait, Claire! How are things with you and Brent?"

"Well right now he said that he broke up with his girl friend, so we'll see how things go."

"Well if anything happens I'll beat his ass."

She laughs but nods her head, I go upstairs and change clothes while calling Luke.

L: Hey

E: Hey the girls and I are going Halloween shopping you want to go?

L: Uh sure why not.

E: Ok, meet us outside in like 5 minutes.

L: Thanks, bug bye.

We hang up, and I walk back down stairs to meet the other two girls, they were both on the phone as we headed outside and into our cars. I see the boys walking outside, we all got into Elena's car and started heading to Home Depot, Target, and Walmart.

Luke and I entered Walmart while Carter and Elena went to Home Depot since they know how to deal with the big stuff and Brent and Claire went to Target.

We grabbed our basket and started our journey; Luke pushes the basket while I look around to try and find the scary stuff we would need, we entered the Halloween section of the store and started there.

"I say we go big or go home on the inside and outside, I say we make it our goal to scare the crap out of little kids and the teenagers," I say with an evil smirk forming on my face. I was growing very excited for this!
