*Time skip to about 5 months after punching Cross*
Nightmare's POV:
"Dream I-I need your help..." I can feel my palms sweating at the thought of what I'm about to ask my brother to do.
"Yes brother? What is it?" I swallow hard.
"I... I'm going to ask Y/n to marry me..." I blush intensely and look at the ground as my brother squeals in excitement. I've already asked Cross for permission since I can't ask her father. I just need help with how to propose
"Oh it's finally happening! I am so happy for you! This is great!!! I'll help you with everything you need!!! Don't worry!"
"Thank you Brother. I need help with the planning. You know, getting a ring, picking a location, getting her to come to that location without knowing it's a proposal..." Dream jumps up and down like an excited child. I haven't seen him like this since... well... the incident.
"Of course!!!!!! Where do you want to start?!!"
"Umm... the ring?"
"Of course brother!!!!!!!!!"
*Time skip to 3 months later* (DANG! NIGHTMARE YOU METICULOUS PLANNER YOU!)
Your POV: Nightmare has been avoiding me for about 2 months now. Cross thinks it's just in my head, but every time he sees me he teleports away to who knows where. 'Did I do something wrong???' I wonder as I head towards Nightmares room. I want. No. I NEED to know why he refuses to talk to me, and he won't reply to my texts. I was about to knock on the door, but I heard him and Dream talking. 'What if it's important? I shouldn't interrupt them.' as I turn away from the door I have second thoughts. 'But what if it's about me?! This may be my only chance to know what's up with him!' I go back and quietly put my ear to the bottom of the door. Nightmare's voice is the first I hear.
"You didn't tell anyone right?"
"Nightmare. I've been helping you with this for three months, and haven't told a soul. Do you really think I would betray your trust now?"
"Sorry, I... I just want this to go well."
"Of course you do! I do too! And it will! You know her better than anyone else, and I can tell you both are infatuated with each other. It will be fine! What's my next task?"
"Thank you, Dream. I think I can manage the rest though. Just help me make sure no one else knows. If anyone finds out and tells her it's ruined."
"of course, brother. If you need anything let me know" I hear footsteps come towards the door, and scramble under a table in the hallway with a vase of Echo Flowers on it which are repeating a cheesy joke Killer told. The door opens and the two walk out together. I pray that they don't notice me and both suddenly stop at the end of the hallway and look at each other. I freeze panicking, holding my breath. They come towards me and stop at the table I'm under. I forgot they can sense negativity. Dream crouches down enough to see me and gasps, then stands back up and tells Nightmare
"It's her"
Nightmare kneels onto the floor.
"How much did you hear?" I repeat all of their dialogue and ask what they're planning.
Nightmare refuses to answer the question, and instead scolds me.
"You shouldn't have been eavesdropping!" I get defensive
"Well I wouldn't have felt the need to if you would stop running away from me, or talked to me, or SOMETHING! You've been avoiding me for TWO MONTHS! DID YOU THINK I'D BE FINE WITH THAT?! I HAVE BEEN WORRIED SICK THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG, OR SAID SOMETHING TO OFFEND YOU! I HAD TO DO SOMETHING TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON!!!!!!!" Nightmare is silent.
"You can't do that to me Nightmare. I care about you." Nightmare sighs, gets up, and offers me a hand. Then he speaks.
"You still don't know enough to ruin it, just don't tell anyone or ask questions okay?" I take his hand and nod. He continues.
"And..... I'm sorry about avoiding you. I just want it to be special and if I were to let it slip about what I wa-" I interupt
"It's okay! Just never again okay?" He pulls me into a hug
"Never."
*Timeskip*
Nightmares POV: It's almost time. I specifically chose her birthday because it's more romantic, but I have a backup gift in case she says no. It's been 2 months since her finding out something was being planned, and she hasn't asked a single question as promised, but I can tell she's getting restless.
"Don't worry my love. You won't have to wait much longer" I whisper while looking at the ring with the biggest smile I've ever had. The ring is golden with a midnight blue moon for the stone. 2 more weeks and this ring could be on her finger.
*Timeskip*
Dreams POV: I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!! Nightmare proposes tomorrow and I have to hide in my room because if anyone sees me they'll know somethings going to happen! THAT'S how excited I am!!!!!!! Nightmare has waited for the longest time for someone besides me who cares about him, and to think Y/n will be my sister-in-law!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for her to say YES!!!!!!!!!
*The Final Timeskip*
Your POV: Nightmare said we have to go somewhere special for my birthday present. I can't wait to see what it is! Everyone else got me amazing gifts, and knowing Nightmare, his is going to blow my mind! We arrive at a cliff at sunset and f/f (favorite flower) is tied to all the trees nearby. There are also f/c balloons weighted down in a path towards the cliffs edge.
"Nightmare... this is beautiful..." My breath is officially stolen.
"This isn't the best part" he says in a calm voice. He leads me to the cliffs edge.
"Y/n. The time that I've known you has been amazing. I've never known someone as kind and gentle as you, and I never thought in my wildest dreams that someone like you would agree to date me. You have done so much for me, and everyone around you, and I want to spend the rest of my life protecting you, and making up for all you've done for me. Y/n M/n L/n." He gets down on one knee and pulls out a box, but I notice a flash of pink. A young girl, with a magical-looking pink creature tied around her waist. She then goes into the woods and the creature flies under the cliff we're on. My head starts adding things up. We're in danger!
"Nightm-"
"Will you marry m-" I hear the crunching of rock and immediately push him away from the cliffs edge as it falls down, and I follow it. I see the ground below me approaching. My last words are
"Yes, Nightmare"
No ones POV: Y/n's head strikes against a sharp rock, knocking her unconscious and causing her to bleed. A multicolored soul appears and the young girls creature eats it, then returns to their master. Nightmare teleports down after the creature is out of sight and sees the dead body of the only girl he's ever loved.
"N-no..." He whimpers.
"No Y/n please!" He picks up the limp body. Tears pouring down his face uncontrollably. His brother senses the negativity and quickly teleports seeing his brother and her dead body in his arms. A gasp escapes his mouth and he rushes over to comfort his twin brother. After what seemed like years of crying they went back to the castle. Dream would explain what happened while Nightmare took the body to her room. He gently laid it on the bed, she looked as if she was sleeping, however no alarm nor kiss would wake her from this sleep she had entered.
