She's of great importance in Burkwood. Documents, reports, disasters, catastrophes. She's got it all.
She was just signing papers, something she normally does, that was when a man rushed in her office. "Lord Kintau!" His eyes were filled with panic and fear. "Come quick!"
"What is it?" She asked him, rising from her chair.
His eyes were wide, breathing heavily he responded. "It's Sparrow Ridge," He started, catching his breath. "They're here."
Her heart stopped. She followed the man to the attackers and noticed three buildings on fire, families standing outside of them with tears rolling down from their eyes.
"Oh good, you made it." A man said grimly. Kintau knew who this was. The Lord of Sparrow Ridge.
Kintau looked up at him on one of their tallest buildings in Burkwood and frowned. "What do you want from us? We gave you what you asked!" She yelled at him.
"Ah, yes, half of it." He smirked and caught her eyes with his cold, dead stare. "We had a deal, you give us half of your stock and we don't kill your people, or, the ones who are left."
A tear fell from her chin. "That was all we could give you! We're running low on supplies, we'll fulfill your order when we can."
The Lord shook his head and smiled. "See, that's not gonna work." He looked over to a civilian, making everyone else look too. A guard of his came out of the building behind the civilian and watched as his sword entered his back and through his chest. The man fell to his knees, his whole body shaking. Thus, his body fell to the ground.
Kintau was taken aback as she watched the blood stream out from his wound. Tears streamed from her eyes as she watched as the Lord, Eliphas, laughed with a smile on his face. She slid her sword from its pocket as she watched the man's family cry as his body lay lifeless on the floor.
Her grasp on the cold handle of the sword tightened as she wielded it in front of her. The Sparrow Ridge guards chuckled with each other and pulled out their swords as well. Kintau could hear one coming up from behind her, she flipped her sword and put all her force into her strike as she felt it sink into the man's body. After that, several guards came charging at her. She held her sword at her side and swung it with great power, all of their throats were slit and they fell on their backs, slowly bleeding out.
She spun around and caught another guard's sword with her own, pushing it against his. This guard was...different. He did not have a helmet on. His hair was long and covered his eyes almost completely. He smirked and moved his sword away, ducking so he wouldn't get hit. Before he had the chance to cut her leg, making her weaker, Kintau moved her sword below and blocked him. His moves were quick but hers were faster, she pushed his sword up and was able to create a deep cut in his chest. He cried in pain as he dropped his sword, its iron clanging on the pavement he stood on.
His hands pressed against his wound but he continued to bleed. He raised one of his hands, blood covering it completely. He has surrendered.
Eliphas grinned at her, though Kintau was not sure why. "Impressive," He said grimly, "You are stronger than the average human, Kintau. Mark my words, I will find out what you are, and after that, I'll have your head as a trophy."
"Go ahead," She dropped her sword, its iron clanging on the pavement, then held her arms wide open. "You don't have the guts."
Eliphas frowned and at the snap of his fingers, himself and the injured guard disappeared into thin air. Kintau turned around to see the people Burkwood's faces flushed with terror. Most were crying, others were in shock. "I am your Lord," She began, panting. "I will do whatever it takes to keep my people safe...even if it means someone has to die to do so."
Smiles were appearing on a few faces, then a few more, then all of them were smiling. She began walking to her home, but collapsed halfway there. Her bones felt like they were breaking with every step. She screeched, pain flowing through her body. Her guards, Sophie and Drake, rushed over to her and tried to help her up but she pushed them away.
Her body was on fire. Her mouth was dry, her heart was beating sixty times a minute, her lungs were shrinking. Her arms became weak and couldn't keep her up any longer. She fell on her chest, unable to move her body at all. When her guards picked her up, she was dazing. The people of the village were astonished when they looked at her.
Kintau's eyes continued to switch colors. They went from black, to red, to her natural color, blue. Then, they were white. She loosened from her guards grasps, this was out of her control. She rose into the air, her arms and legs dangling beneath her. Wings spread from her spine, they fluttered with such delicacy.
The majestic wings disappeared, causing Kintau to fall face first on the ground. Luckily, she was not hurt. She rolled onto her back and stared at the clouds, slowly falling asleep.
