Kintau laid in bed, her head still aching. She hasn't eaten in days, all she could think about was what that man said: "Someday we'll be bigger." What did it mean? She had the urge to talk to him again, but she knew she wouldn't be able to. She has other things she has to do. Today was a big day.
The Mollerhof Port village's construction workers would be coming down from across the vast river between them to rebuild the Burkwood village. After Eliphas had destroyed almost the whole village, the people have been staying in the Mess Hall, finding whatever they could to rest on. When she can, Kintau provides them with pillows and blankets. These workers were some of the most talented near her village.
When they arrived, Kintau beamed. She had regained her strength with a few days of rest and was back at it again. She sprinted to the men and smiled, "Hi! My name is--"
She was cut off by one of the workers, "Yeah I don't care what your name is." He snapped. "What do you want us to do." He said that last part more as a command rather than a question.
Kintau was taken aback by his utter rudeness. Another worker pushed him out of the way and smiled at her. "Hi, my name is Roger, that's Phillip and Denise. I can see that your village was pretty badly damaged, we will do the best we can to repair this as fast as possible."
"Oh, why thank you." She held out a hand and introduced herself. "My name is Kintau, Lord of Burkwood village."
He clasped his hand around hers, "A pleasure." He paused for a moment, really fixing his eyes on her. "Wait... you're Lady Kintau? I have heard so much about you! Is it true Eliphas of Lu'Ra did this?"
She frowned: "Someday we'll be bigger." She itched to talk to that man again. What was happening to him? Was he being punished for not completing his order? Was he...dead? The thought left her mind but she nodded as a response to his question.
"Oh my Selene this is terrible! We'll have this done as soon as possible."
Denise walked past Kintau and winked at her. She wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean but she didn't question it. She allowed them to do their work on the houses, but soon heard a voice in her head.
Hello? It said. She knew that voice. It was the man with Eliphas. Can you hear me?
Um...hi? How do I...uh...talk inside my head? Kintau asked. She didn't know how she was supposed to talk to him.
She heard a sigh of relief, You can hear me?
   Yes.
You are not like others. He paused. You are special.
Kintau did not reply for a few minutes. She responded, We will meet again...someday. And she stopped.
When she came back from her conversation with him, she noticed Sophie was waving her hand in front of her face. "Kintau!" She yelled. Kintau blinked and slapped herself to sort of wake herself up. "C'mon shortie, wake up."
Kintau grinned. She knows she's really short but she gets a little mad sometimes when people call her names and bring it up. She knows she usually has to look up at people but most of the time she's okay with it. "Yeah, yeah I'm here." She scratched her nose and moved her side bangs from covering her eye.
"You back?" She asked as Kintau nodded. "Okay, what just happened? You were out of it for like fifteen minutes and several people came up to you asking why you were just staring into oblivion."
She shook her head, "Nothing, I'm fine, I just have a massive headache." She rubbed her temple with her fingers, stressed and exhausted.
Sophie's eyebrows raised, "Says the girl whose been asleep for three days." She looked closer at Kintau's face. "Hey, why is your nose bleeding?"
Kintau touched her finger to her lip and noticed blood drip from her bottom lip. Her eyebrows furrowed, "What the heck...?" She muttered. She ran to her house without saying anything to Sophie.
Sophie did not question her reasoning. Kintau opened the bathroom door and looked in the mirror, quickly washing it off. A tear dripped off the tip of her nose. "What's happening to me..." She whispered, covering her face with her hands. Ever since Eliphas came to the village, nothing has been the same for her. It's been a bit strange. She can't think straight, she's always exhausted and her thoughts have been nothing but random. But she knows she can't slack off, fore she is the Lord of Burkwood, she cannot let her people down. The sounds of saws and hammers continued to widen her eyes, keeping her awake.
She wandered over to her bedroom and jumped onto her bed, not bothering to shut her door behind her. Her face lay into her soft, feathered pillow, her body covered with her flakey sheets. She heard Sophie come into her house but she didn't care, she was too tired to move. Sophie peered into her room and closed her door quietly.

Tomorrow is another day.
