She awoke in her bedroom, her head resting on her feathery pillow. She tried to get up but her mattress seemed to be pulling her down. She had a massive headache and her stomach was growling excessively. Her memory of what had happened just before she fell asleep vanished. She could only remember Eliphas killing an innocent man and herself fighting off his guards then he disappeared.
Her door creaked open, "Lady Kintau? May I come in?" It was Sophie.
"Yes, Sophie." Kintau responded, sitting up and hanging her legs over her mattress, rubbing her temple with her index finger and thumb.
"I know I shouldn't be so formal 'cause we're friends and all," The door opened wide to reveal her guard walking in, shutting the door behind her. "but I just feel like I have to be formal 'cause I'm your guard." She paused and pursed her lips. "C'mon, you gotta wake up. You've been sleeping all day."
She raised an eyebrow. "All day? What do you mean all day? I was up this morning, right?"
"No, you've been sleeping for three days."
Kintau's eyes widened. Three days? She thought to herself. How could I have been asleep for three days? I was up this morning...wasn't I? "What happened before I went to sleep?" She had to know.
"Well, after Eliphas came and after...that happened, you went to your room and fell asleep."
Her brain felt as though someone had just reached in and squeezed it. She laid back down and put her hands over her face. "Get Stephany please." She mumbled.
Sophie nodded, though she knew Kintau did not see her. She walked out of her room and lightly shut the door behind her. Kintau groaned, her stomach ached and her body felt numb. Her legs felt like jello, her eyes were burning, her mouth was dry, and her bones were fragile. She sighed, knowing she had to get up soon.
But it was something else that woke her.
An enormous thud and a gigantic BOOM caused her to get up out of bed. She walked as fast as she could outside her home to see her village engulfed in flames. People screaming and on fire. People crying. People dying. A tear rolled off her cheek when she looked up to see Eliphas on the roof of her house, along with the injured guard that was now okay but still in pain.
Her anger burst off the charts when he noticed the injured guard had no shirt on, his hair too long to see his eyes, was holding a sword, and had Eliphas's sword to his neck. Eliphas smirked, he looked at the guard and whispered, "Kill her."
The guard jumped from her roof and planted on his feet. She then noticed his wrists were chained and could only move a little. He looked up at her, and thats when she saw a fresh cut under his eye and his wound was deeper, almost through his body. He was being forced to do this. How did he survive that?
Kintau was weak. She could not move that much and her legs werent all that stable. She pulled out her sword, her arms trembling, her lips quivering. She dropped her sword, causing the guard to look at her in confusion on why. She fell to her knees, her entire body shaking. Her fingers curled, her nails dug into her skin, blood dripping from her hand.
The man dropped his weapon and kneeled down next to her. She looked up at him, bags under her eyes and veins popping out from the sides of her head. "What are...what are you doing?" She asked, breathing heavily.
"You are dropping fast." He placed his palm on her head. It was hot. "You're warm. You should rest."
She ignored his words. "You have kindness in your voice." She whispered. "Why are you helping me? You are supposed to kill me." Her voice was soft and light, she was not worried.
He did not answer her. But Kintau could tell he was looking at her. Eliphas was angry. But...he didn't know it. "I will kill you some day, Selene." He growled.
Kintau peered up at him, a bit confused. Selene? She thought to herself. Does he mean Lady Selene? No...he can't mean Lady Selene...could he? Before she could answer him, he and the guard disappeared.
But the guard knew he was about to go, so before he vanished he told her,

"Someday we'll be bigger."
