It's already midnight when Harry returned to their common room. He removed his invisibility cloak as he entered inside the room. He placed his broomstick along with the others until he noticed a person sitting on the massive couch.
Harry doubted to greet him so he turned to the stairs but Draco cleared his throat and spoke.
"Can we talk?" he politely asked.
"Save it for tomorrow Malfoy, I'm exhausted." Harry yawned.
"I want our friendship back." Draco said even before Harry could take a step.
"I don't want to," Harry coldly replied.
Draco sighed as he refill his glass of Fire Whiskey. "If you didn't came up with the idea of targeting her, how do you think our life was now?"
"Same old rubbish," Harry rolled his eyes but finally settled down in an armchair opposite to Draco.
"I feel so isolated Harry. You know there's no one else in this place I can truly trust except you." Draco looked solely at his eyes. "Remember that time you came in our house, you have all your things because you feel like the world betrayed you. That's what I am feeling right now, you've been a brother to me. Please don't let a girl destroy us."
Somehow, Harry felt the same way. A flashback of memories he spent with Draco came crashing down. All those laughter during their childhood, the troubles they have been, and countless detentions. They never left each other through difficult times.
"If you're going to say I love you, please don't," Harry plainly said. They looked at each other for a couple of seconds until they broke into laughter.
It took another minute before they gain back composure. "But seriously, I love her," Draco said which completely remove the smile on Harry's lips.
"What?" he raised an eyebrow.
Draco chuckled, he already think about it and decided to tell Harry everything first.
"I like Hermione. No, I love her." at that point, Harry felt a strong urge to get his wand and curse him right away. "I am planning to tell her but I don't know when or how to start, you've been in this situation before so I guess you could help me,"
Harry choked as he tried to laugh at Draco's statement. "Dude have you hit your head? Are you sick or something?"
Draco expecting this reaction from him, "No, I may sound gay but-"
"You are gay," Harry chuckled.
"Shut up, just help me with this and sooner you will realize that I didn't change... I just became mature,"
"I never had a serious relationship, I hadn't experience giving flowers to a girl at least." Harry ignored the knot that seems to tighten in his heart by Draco's confession. He's not sure if it's because for him love is nothing but a chemical reaction being transmitted to brain impulse or what else.
Draco took a sip on his beverage before speaking again. "Alright, that's fine mate... Er, are we friends again?"
For a second, Harry hesitated because he doubt if Draco wants their friendship back because of his prior reason or is it only because of Hermione. "Yup, friends."
The awkward atmosphere was still there but Harry was looking forward to bring back the old Slytherin mischief makers. He missed him, that's a fact be wouldn't dare to admit.
Draco was glad of his answer, but the thing that makes it more satisfactory is because it's Hermione's request.
