Chapter 4 - not edited yet

When you think of camp most think of rusty, old tents on tough, coarse, muddy grounds held up while you spend your days hiking up the steep terrains.

Of course my school was different and for once I was unbelievably grateful for that. As I walked into the camp grounds we were faced with what seemed like newly built cabins facing a wooden deck hovering over the glistening water. The trees swayed in the wind like in those cliché movies and  the sight was absolutely breathtaking. I was never an outdoor person but nature never ceased to amaze me, it always seemed to calm me. I was shaken out of my train of thoughts when I was pushed aside by a sprinting Miles who turned around to give me a shrug but the smirk on his face was evident.

The past couple weeks have been interesting to say the least. They were filled with Miles and I pranking each other constantly. To be honest I don't know why he suddenly wanted to get so close with me. I don't know if he wants something from me or genuinely just wants to get closer, but I honestly don't mind as long as he isn't using me. That's happened one too many times for me, but shockingly enough throughout the time I spend with him I'm constantly laughing and can't help but smile. But then there were those times, like this one where I wanted to bury him thousands of metres underground.

I finally realised that the reason he was running like a maniac was to choose which bunk he wanted, that was after I was trampled on by the stampede of boys following him. Due to the fact that I was a girl we sorted it out like civilised human beings and managed to agree that within the girls in my group, Cass and I would get top bunks and Harmony and Trina got bottom bunks. The rest of the group which consisted of, Miles, Travis, Sean and Gabe could be heard arguing over who got which bed. Let's just say the argument ended with a 'bang', and what seemed to be someone getting pushed off a bed.

After everyone had unpacked and settled in, the group decided to meet up and go for a swim. Within minutes I was dressed into my rose pink bikini top and simple ebony bottoms walking side by side with the three other gorgeous girls in the group. I felt quite self conscious. I was never a fan of my figure, now walking next to three not only beautiful girls, but ones with perfect bodies made me wish I got into the whole cheerleading business. Cass had tried to convince me a countless number of times but it was useless.

Once we met the boys on the deck we took a moment to take them in, and I mean take all of them in, toned abs and all.

"Done checking me out yet sweetcheeks or want me to wait a little longer, because trust me I don't mind" I was once again shaken out of my thought by the same person, with the same moronic smug smirk on his face.

"Get over yourself asshole" was my only reply but my face was flushed since he had caught me staring. By now everyone was in the water and attacking each other like the mature group that we were. Miles had suddenly taken a step closer causing me to take one back, towards the edge of the deck. I looked at him, the smirk still plastered on his face but his hands were raised and before I knew it I was being pushed into the ice cold water.

Asshole.

I pushed myself to the surface of the water but was once again blinded when Miles had decided to jump in. I once again had gotten a breath of air, without water in my nostrils but could hear the laughter of an asshole behind me,

"You should've seen" he stopped due to his laughter but before he could continue I had jumped up and pushed him down under the water, but couldn't help but giggle at his face right before it had gone under. Without even realising it he had grabbed both of my arms from over his head and pulled me down with him, not loosening his grip to allow me to arise to the surface again. I turned around quickly, twisting his arm in the process and causing him to lose his grasp on me and kicked myself to the top of the water. Once he was up as well we couldn't help but convulse ourselves with laughter at the scene that had just unfolded within a matter of seconds.

We had stayed like this for hours, soon joining the group and engulfing ourselves with the fun of the night. Without even realising it, it was dinner time and we had all decided to dry ourselves and join the rest of the class around the searing bonfire. As I sat down, cooking my marshmallow over the warmth of the flames I couldn't help but remember when mum had taken us all out camping. I was young, only at the age of nine or ten, but as cliché as it sounds, I remember it like it was yesterday. I excused myself from the rest of the students and walked over towards the deck, sitting on the end of it. I watched as the wind blew through the sturdy leaves of the trees, as if taking away any worries along with it. The light waves in the lake folded over one another but the reflection of the immaculate moon was apparent. It had taken all my thoughts away from the past.

I was startled to say the least when Miles had come down and sat next to me, hanging his feet over the edge of the deck like I had,

"You okay?" I looked up at him not knowing what the answer was. I mean I had a loving father, an incredible group of friends and a not too troubled life, of course I was okay.

"Yeah, thank you, guess the past just caught up with the present" I almost whispered. I looked up at him but was mystified when I saw a look of... guilt? in his eyes. He knew what I was talking about. The whole group knew, I hadn't spoken to anyone for months after she was gone. I shut everyone and everything out, but why was there still that look of guilt?

I looked back down at the floorboards under us before Miles spoke up again,

"She's looking down at you now Tiff, I'm sure she is smiling from ear to ear due to how proud she is of the person you are today. Your still her baby girl just grown up, and I know she hates to see you upset over her." I once again looked back up at him, his eyes on the water but his mind somewhere else.

"Thank you, that means a lot" he glanced back up at me with a genuine smile.

"Hey sweetcheeks?"

"Hm?" I responded,

"Might not want to sit so close to the edge next time" I looked up at him puzzled but the confusion soon disappeared when his palms were against by back, forcing me into the numbing water.

Asshole.
