Chapter 12
All day my mind had been circling around Miles’ last words last night. Why was he apologizing? He didn’t do anything wrong did he? I decided to finally shake it off and drag myself out of bed.
I quickly freshened up before slipping into a light, beige jumper with some high waisted jeans and converse. I texted Miles asking him to let me walk to school today. Lately, he’s finally understood that those days where I need to walk alone I just need to freshen up my mind so I’m prepared for the rest of the day. I quickly grabbed my small bag and headed off allowing the wind to gently slide through my hair. The music that played within my ears calmed the laughter of the running children around me and seemed to only make the atmosphere kinder.
Once I entered school grounds, the ringing of the bell was heard and students flooded the area, dunking anyone in there way during the process. I walked towards first period since we didn’t have homeroom today and took my seat in my DT class. Once the teacher entered the students quieted down and took their places. With just my luck Miles came and sat by me and before I could push him off his seat the teacher began speaking and I simply glared at him since he knew I wouldn’t be able to focus if he sat next to me.
Talkative asshole.
“Okay class, quiet down. Today you will be receiving your assessment tasks. You must create your own useful household item. This can range from indoors to outdoors as long as it is fully functional and is finished. Within your portfolio that goes along with it you must write the reasons as to why you chose that piece, and that will be presented to the class. It's going to be done in pairs but the portfolio will be handed in individually, except for the reasoning to the piece chosen. It will be thoroughly explained in the sheet going around now. Any questions?"
That doesn't seem too difficult, I mean I'm good with the tools and the theory is always on my side. After no one had any questions, with just my luck the teacher had to continue talking.
"Okay good. Your pair will be the person sitting next to you as I know most of you are sitting with a friend, unless you really have someone in particular that you'd like to work with. If anyone is left out you know the consequences and I will choose."
Within seconds girls from all other tables circled mine.
Well Miles'.
They all looked like a dog begging for a treat as they nagged him to partner up with them. I rolled my eyes at the smug smirk on his face as he leaned back in his chair, it's not like he needs a larger ego.
As I was about to leave my seat to ask Miss. Smith if I could do the assignment alone before Colton walked up to my table. I flinched and froze in my seat. Miles seemed to recognize as his eyes left the girls and he gave me a questioning look. That was until he saw Colton and began to eye him, his head following his every move.
"Aye cupcake, I don't have a partner... and it doesn't look like you do either, so how about we partner up?" Colton although he seemed sweet, will not be able to just get me to forgive him after he called me a bitch, he may have been able to do it in the past but that was only because I was head over heels for him. Before I could protest Miles jumped in and surprised us both.
"She's already got a partner." Both Colton and I turned towards him with perplexed expressions, which resulted in us getting an eye roll from Miles.
"Me you fuckwits, I'm her partner." He stated as though it was the most obvious thing in the world and Colton seemed to narrow his eyes at him but Miles being the confident jerk only glared back at him. The two were in a stare down until I interrupted hoping they wouldn't shoot lasers with their eyes.
