Nasir Jones'
When the guard slid that cell door open I couldn't lie I was happy as shit. "Nasir Jones!" he called as I quickly stood.
"Good luck in the real world lil homie, ion wanna see yuh back here." Bundy, my cellmate for these past months, stated.
"Trust that you won't," I promised.
The chains clanked to the tile floors as I followed the guard out to get my belongings; my things barely fit' I had put on some weight while in prison.
"That's everything." another officer inserted then handed me a clear plastic bag of things like my phone, wallet, keys .etc basically all the things I had on me when I got locked up.
I let out a deep breath I didn't know I was holding in as I was finally let out the building down the pathway where a tall dark-skin gentleman stood waiting for me "Jung, is that you lil brother?"
"In the flesh," he exclaimed as I kinda jogged towards him.
"Nigga you taller than me now," I told him hugging him after which was short-lived Jung hated showing emotion "so what's good, fool?"
"Shoot! alotta shit done happen since you been away," he replied as I stared him up and down not believing I had to look up to my little brother now.
"Like..."
"I'll tell you when we get settled for now let's just get outta here and I want you to meet somebody!" he trailed off, walking towards his car which was nice by the way.
I peered inside the car at this cute lil dark honey in the passenger seat and a sleeping toddler in the backseat sportin' the same big ass head as Jung.
"Bruh... Hell Nah Jung a father now!" I said, really shocked, making him laugh.
"Yeah, nigga," he answered.
"What's lil dude's name?"
"Jamal but we call him J-man."
"He looks just like you," I said, not only was my lil bro taller than me now but he a father too, I definitely missed out on a lot.
"And that's Blair my wife." he introduced as she waved while he got inside the car.
"That's wifey, oh wow! Jung bruh."
"Yeah man, I tied the knot wish you were there to be the best man. We wanted to wait till you got out but we didn't want to risk our first born being a bastard," he added as he drove off with me in the backseat with my nephew.
Sure a lotta shit change but one thing was for sure the hood didn't everything was just how I remembered it; Ol' Queens, New York.
"Is that Aunties baby? oh, Nasir! looking just like yo mama," Aunt Peaches greeted me with hugs and kisses as soon as I stepped a foot on her porch "come get something to eat now boy I know you hungry eating all that nasty jail food but it's all gon' be good now because you out and Auntie just got through cooking up a storm!"
I carried my bag inside' noticing my half-sister Desirée slouching on the couch on her phone with her feet up' like she was grown or something.
I made a loud coughing noise as she jumped to her feet "imma call you back. Oh my God! Nas, you home!?" she squealed then hugged me.
"Damn you tall as hell too, what yall been eating?" I joked, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as we walked into the kitchen.
"Language young man." Aunt Peaches warned.
I took a seat at the kitchen table as Desirée followed "are you really back for real this time?" She asked.
"I hope so!" I grinned as Aunt Peaches slid a plate of food in front of me making my mouth water, man I missed this.
"Reeree, Sweetie go see where yo other brother Jung at and why he ain't come in?" Aunt Peaches uttered, sending Desirée on her way "that girl done got so beside ha'self it's ridiculous how she's smelling ha'self now tryna switch and shit like she grown I done tol' ha if I catch ha trying it again imma whoop ha lil 16-year-old ass."
I tried to keep from laughing while I continued eating.
Aunt Peaches was always on somebody's case, glad to see that hasn't changed.
A few years after mom died pops just started poppin' out kids left and right Desirée was one of 'em but word on the street is he got at least 6 in total. Auntie Peaches practically raised Desirée and Rodell though because of their mother, Linda was some cracked out White whore which really effected Ro I think, speaking of him...
"Where Ro at?" I asked almost finished with my food.
"Where Ro not at? I tried my best to do right by these kids but I guess living where we do there's no use he wannabe grown too hanging with that no good badass Anton doing Lord knows what," she answered, standing in search of something.
"Oh! Nah you back smoking?" I asked as she lit the cigarette and begin smoking.
"I'm surprised I ain't doing anything else living with these hard-head ass chil'ren!" she spat between swigs of the cigarette "you don't need to go back to jail yo daddy need you, I need you, these kids do, and so does Jungle. Speaking of Jungle when you gon' find you a nice church girl like he got and settle down, you can't be letting that smelly bitch Teflon ruin yo life you a handsome young man, go out to the churches and find you, somebody."
"I could say the same to you, Auntie." I honestly said' as she smacked her lips.
"I am 47 ain't nobody checking for me!" she answered.
"You're beautiful Auntie." I complimented, kissing her cheek then dropped the now empty plate in the trash bin before going upstairs to shower.
