^I'll admit, it's not my best work😬

(Emma's POV)
With a groan, I allow light to hit my tired eyes as I reluctantly peel back my eyelids. I look to my right and watch through the window as the sky takes on an almost orange colour. What time is it? I wonder. I then begin to think. Wait, what am I resting my head on?

I look to my left and see Killian's torso and as my eyes slowly work their way up, they find his sleeping face. That means... I jump back at the realization that I was resting on Killian's shoulder. Clearly he didn't care or he would've moved my head. Either that or he was already asleep. But somehow I knew, with my luck, that he was wide awake.

Grabbing my phone, I see that the time is 6:24 p.m. We slept for twelve hours?! I can't remember the last time I slept so long. Or so well. I'm shocked at the discovery that I hadn't had a single nightmare, something that has only happened a few times in the last four years.

I hear a movement and without any warning, my eyes slip to Killian who is slowly beginning to wake up. As soon as his eyes open just a bit, he spots me. "Swan?" He says in a raspy voice. His eyelids open nearly all the way and he catches a glimpse of outside, causing his eyebrows to scrunch together in confusion. "What time is it?"

"6:24," I reply and his eyes finally open completely.

"P.m?!" He asks in disbelief. I nod my head. He looks really surprised. He mutters, "I can't remember the last time I slept 12 hours straight." I'm not sure if he knew he said it, or hoped I didn't hear him, but I did. And it was like he read my mind.

I rake my fingers through my hair and realize I need a shower soon because my tangles were getting out of hand. "I'm going to go to the washroom," I inform him. He nods and says, "Okay," before getting out of his seat so that I could get to the aisle. I offer him a smile of thanks and head to the back of the passenger car, to which I'm assuming is where the washroom is. Sure enough, I see a washroom sign and enter the small room.

The first thing I see is a mirror facing the door. Below it sat a metal toilet and to the left of that, was a small metal sink. The whole room was fit in pretty tight and the size reminded me of a closet. There was a strong, unfamiliar smell that found itself in my nose.

I walk up to the mirror. My blonde hair was a mess, which I had already guessed. The dark circles that had taken residence under my eyes had began to fade. At this moment, I miss having makeup to cover up the few zits on my forehead and to add some colour to my face. And Killian's still here?

After finishing up in the restroom and fixing my hair as well as I could, I return to my seat to find Killian fixing up his own hair as well, using his phone's camera as a mirror. He must've seen me walk past in his makeshift mirror, for he turns around right when I approach.

"Swan," he greets.

"Jones," I greet back. He moves over a seat to take the place next to the window and I slide into the aisle seat. A cloud of awkward silence passes over our heads in which neither of us knows what to say. So much has happened and it's hard to slip back into that comfortable conversation we always found ourselves in.

Wanting desperately to get rid of the awkward silence, I ask, "How are your injuries?" I had noticed him cringe a few times both this morning and when he awoke if he moved a certain way or did a particular action.

"I'd say they're well on their way to healing," he informs. He thinks before continuing. "But for now I guess I'll have to take it easy." I'm shocked to hear him admit that. I assumed he would've reassured me that he was fine and that was it. Maybe he knows I noticed him cringing and didn't want to lie. Or maybe he just didn't want to lie period. Either way I'm shocked.
